The thing that pees me off more than most is wherever I sit at BDTBL I have to keep jumping up and down to let in or let out late arrivals and early leavers.
We seem to have more of these than any other club.
They arrive anything up to ten to fifteen minutes after kick off, go out for a pee after twenty minutes arrive back five minutes later only to leave again to beat the queue at the bar at half time.
The second half is well under way before they get back - then five minutes before the end get up to go!
They have probably only watched fifty minutes football the whole game and usually these are the ones that do nowt but complain.
At the end of the game I have usually been up and down so many times my knees are knackered.
Do these guys act the same when they go to the cinema?

Couldn't believe that people were leaving 5 minutes before the end on Saturday. There were obviously going to be a few minutes of injury time, so they were going to miss a good 8 or 9 minutes. Considering we were winning 2-0 and threatening to get more, it was a bizarre decision to wander off. Can understand some with kids or the elderly wanting to avoid the masses out, but they seem to be a small proportion of those leaving early.

Luckily, we have aisle seats on the Kop and generally wander up to the back with a couple of minutes to go. Full time whistle, quick clap, off we go.

I have to admit, I do leave 2-3 minutes early as it can be the difference between getting home in 10 minutes or 40.

If you stop letting every little thing bother you, then you will enjoy yourself more.

I normally end up a couple of mins late due to commitments in the boozer and now I feel its bad luck to see the kickoff but I cant understand people leaving early. We scored the majority of goals in the last 5 mins under Warnock so anyone leaving early would have missed the best bits of the game.

If it really annoys you that much though try getting a season ticket in the middle of a row so youl be the one walking past everyone, or not if your always early and dont drink at HT

Always confudles me as to why so many people could walk off early (Saturday for example) surely you wouldn't leave the cinmea 10mins before the end fo the movie "to beat the Cineworld traffic rush"...

You might do if you knew the end!

People leaving early don't bother me nearly as much as those arriving late. The early leavers tend to wait for a break in play, the late arrivers have no such timing and tend to just wade in when someone is on the attack.

Do the people who leave early every time, and therefore only watch 90-95% of the matches get a 5-10% discount on their season tickets?

Ticket buyer - "Any chance of a discount mate?"

Ticket office chap - "Yes, 5% but you'll have to fuck off five minutes before the end."

Ticket buyer - "Woohoo, we miss all the traffic. Sure, we might miss some goals, but that's worth it to get home in time for Animals Do The Funniest Things on ITV2."

Theres a bloke on the end of my row on the kop who always leaves with around 20 minutes left wether afternoon or evening kick off!!! He left at 4.25 on saturday!!, i dont know if he goes up the back somewhere or leaves the ground, its been a bit of a standing joke for those of us who sit near for a couple of seasons now. Me? i arrive 5 mins before kick off and have never left early, regardless of the scoreline.

HH always arrives late - swears blind that he has the statistical evidence to prove that his being on the Kop at kick-off time is unlucky. Nowt to do with the fact he can get to the bar at the Lion easier after 2.55 then :D

one thing that annoys me is people who whinge at those who arrive late or leave early :p

seriously.... we are at a footy match! traditional working class sport (unfortunately less so though these days) where the younguns (and many of us old uns) enjoy a jar or 5 and a bit of banter before the game. I always try to get in on time, but if having a quick gypsies means ill last till half time, then its the bog every time for me :D

As for leaving early, well those of us who live within a couple of miles of the ground are lucky. We dont have to worry too much about traffic etc, but one of the lads lives in Manchester - top blade too, he's not from Sheffield but chooses us over City or United! and getting away just before the rush means he can get out of Sheffield and onto that pesky Snake Pass much quicker. And he drove across for the Port Vale match too - how many of the whingers did that then hey????

Right pair of quenders sat behind me this season. Wouldn't stop "chatting" all through the game about shit. They sounded like they were in Starbucks. Then one said to the other "Bramall Lane is notoriously difficult to get out of" and fucked off with 10 minutes left. I can see me ramming frappes down down their throats before christmas.

I leave 2 minutes before the end if I'm driving. It DOES make a hell of a difference, but if I'm on the train then I stay to the bitter end. Always arrive 5 mins before the k/o.

I'll tell you what's more annoying, the people who leave early, only to stand on the concourse in the way when everyone else leaves at full time.

It's not like they stand within view of the pitch to watch the end and then make a swift exit, it's just spending the last 5 or 10 minutes, away from the action, forming a barracade to stop those who leave on full time :)

The stewards always bloody do it too, wait until the full time rush to walk back up the gangway.

Ooo... I know the answer to this one.

My Nannan, bless her, isn't as nifty on her pins as she used to be in her terrace-standing days. I have to help her up the South Stand steps which is a lot easier to do when there's no one in the way or impatient people huffing behind us. We always stay to the end, just up at the top in spare seats so as soon as the whistle goes, we can shuffle off without holding people up.

I live out in Derbyshire and also head home via the A57 to the hope valley but have never left a game early, and most games i am back home no more than 40 mins after the final whistle.

for those moaning about people going during the game for a slash. why spend practically the whole of half time waiting to have a leak when you can nip down during the game in about 2 minutes? the only proviso should be people wait for a break in play before disturbing people

We always get off few mins early (unless its a tense finish) just cos it does make a massive difference getting away from the ground. If we leave a few mins early can get home in an hour and half, leave at full time and it takes 2 hours.

But we sit at the end of our row right by the exit and it does annoy me when people leave their seats and stand there for ten mins.

Really annoys me when people leave early, especially when we're winning. We actually did leave a few minutes early on Saturday but only because we had a party to go to so had to be home ASAP to get ready and back out again. The only other time I've ever left a game early was when we were losing 3-0 (or was it 4-0? Something like that anyway) to Birmingham many years ago.

Normally though, we clap the players off the patch so leave a couple of minutes after the whistle and we're still home for about 5:45. If you don't park right next to the ground then you won't get stuck in traffic cause by the time you've walked back to the car, its all cleared.

This highlights what I don't understand. I can see why you might leave early to catch a train, or go to work or something like that, but just to miss the traffic on a Saturday? What exactly are people trying to get home early for?

Anyway, it is hardly a burden sitting in a car listening to them rounding up the day's action on the radio.

I used to stand with a guy on the kop about 20 years or so ago who got into the ground at about 45 mins before kick off (pointless) and left with 10 mins or so to go (double pointless). He missed no less than 13 goals when we were promoted to Division 1. The highlight was when he left the Brighton game when we were losing 4-3....

When 'our gert' goes shoppin she's the other way round........ early to arrive n late to leave.

I'm not sure why people have such a problem with people leaving early, It could be a whole manner of reasons why people leave early, to catch a bus, to catch the train? maybe because they take their elderly parents to tesco at 6pm on a saturday night? it could be loads of things. I for example have a young pup who has been sat on his own all afternoon most likely longing for a dump, so yes, leaving 2 minutes early suits me because I have to go back via london/abbeydale and ecclesall road, which, after the match becomes rather busy, so I get home at 5.10 ish to a nice clean Alfie or 5.40 to a dog that was once white but is now brown. Also, for the sake of literally 2 minutes of a game that's in it's dying embers (95% of the time) I would prefer not to be sat in my car for all that time, yeah you miss the odd goal and don't get to clap the team off the pitch, but in my opinion it is worth leaving a few minutes early to miss the traffic.

Sat next to me is a father with 2 sons. For as long as I remember this father leaves 10 minutes - 10! - before the end of every match, taking his 2 children with them. These 2 kids have never seen the end of a match at the Lane. Now, think back to those great games we've experienced where the result has changed in the last few minutes.
I do think that some people need to relax more, and change their life styles.

My usual routine after a Saturday game is clap the guys off the pitch and then make my way to Granville Road - usually just up from Granville College (that gives my age away). It usually takes me 15 mins and then of to sunny Dinnington listening to P & G on my way back, perhaps into the Little Mester for a quick pint before going home for Dinner. Always back in the area before 5-45pm.!

Theres a bloke on my row that gets really peed off when I arrive late and leave early and get up during the game. I think he has dodgy knees so I make sure I force him to get up and down to let me past.

I do the same at the cinema:thumbup:

Perhaps some of these people have 2 season tickets and feel that their other seat has a better view at the start or end of games....
