When Taylor and Brandy exit, then Baxter and McGinn will be the only two Weir signings left at the club.

Personally I would not be sorry to see McGinn move on but I know some fans rate him.

Baxter has a bit to prove to win over some fans but he is the best legacy that Weir left. Amongst our best 5 players IMO.

When fans express some disappointment with the quality of this close season's signings, we should reflect on the five who joined us last summer and hope there has been a step change. Surely there has.

One surprise to me when thinking on these lines was the fact that Harris and Scougall were the only two permanent Clough permanent signings last season. The rest were loanees.

Let's hope this season's new recruits make big impacts and stay the course. Surely they will. In any case the best are yet to come, surely.

Thanks siblade, so easy to forget him and he's not included in the updated player profiles on the club site, which is disappointing. Notably, neither are Taylor or Brandy and yet there is still a slot for Coady.

I think you will find that winter was responsible for the vast majority of players brought in under Wier,
From what I gather weir had very little input in recruitment, but I stand yo be corrected

I'd say the January recruitment was much more impressive than the summer recruitment so far. Still time ofcourse, but I would say last summers signings (at the time) were better than this summers (so far).

Interesting comment that. As I recall, last summer we signed 5 in a day: Brandy, Taylor, Johns, McGinty and McGinn. Or maybe Taylor came a little afterwards and it was Coady in the 5.

Having not seen any of this summers new recruits play its guesswork but on paper they all look better than the 5 from last summer, not many of whom will be with us much longer I suspect. I think you have to wait and see before judging them though, NC hasn't made many bad signings so far.

The other factor in all this twittering and bickering is who's to say Nigel won't be able to pull in another couple of outstanding loans once things get rolling? Nigel has stated his ideal squad size but as we're seeing with Wallace, if someone comes along who'll improve the squad Nigel will be in for them.
It's early days yet and I'm very happy that for once in ages we're getting some solid players into the squad for pre-season.
UTB!
