Last night a Colombian team started a game with only 7 players due to Covid

It was a crucial relegation battle. One of the centre backs was actually the backup goalie. Incredibly they got to half time at 0-0 before finally conceding three goals in the last half an hour. Here's a match report.

There was a time when I would have fancied United to put in a shift like that. Right now, I'd be worried playing against the 7 men.

There was a game in Estonia a couple of weeks or so where, due to home grown player rules and Covid restrictions, they started a 15yo youth team player, more or less booted it out for a throw in immediately, then subbed him off

For the Interblades a long time ago, we had a little tournament in Huddersfield, poor performance in the first two group games and people with other commitments meant we were short for the final pointless group game. We drafted in a couple of kids and it was siege mentality. Mousey scored in the first 10 minutes and we spent the next 80 kicking the ball as far as we could over the pavilion and aiming for the train tracks.

We won 1-0.

Shamefully I have to admit to playing in games at the Uni sports pitches at Goodwin where we employed a tactic called ‘Dam House Ball’ if we were winning in a close game, which constituted smacking the ball over the fence towards the Dam House pub, and hiding any spare balls under jackets etc to waste 5 minutes. Was pretty effective owing to the giant hill that made retrieving said ball treacherous and time consuming.

Not pretty, I’m not proud, but won some crucial 11 a side intra mural games as a result!

If we subbed every player who gave a throw in away we wouldn't have a team left at all.

We used to do something similar in the Sheffield league. Once got a 2-2 draw even though we only got into their half with the actual ball at our feet twice.

I think there’s a plaque somewhere

the trick is making a blatant smack over the fence look like a legitimate clearance or tackle

"The match was suspended after Aguilas player Giovanny Martinez was injured and couldn't continue in the 79th minute, putting his side below the minimum players required to play."

Neil? Keith???

For some reason I read the title to the Kirsty Maccoll song, 'There's A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He' s Elvis '. She did also have a hit about Colombia (England 2 Colombia 0).
