Of the match we are attacking and roaring the Blades on and it's all drowned out by Sinclair reading out loads of messages about how to exit the ground. Ruins the atmosphere. The game isn't over yet. Can't these announcements wait until the final whistle or be read out at half time?

Yes, why do people need instructions before the end of the game? Doesn't that just encourage people to leave early?
In fact, why do they need instructions? "Please exit the ground by heading away from the pitch, not over it, thank you."

(I'll bet it's a H&S requirement)

Near the end of half time, no music and Sinclair stopped whittering on. There should be more of it.

I keep banging on about this, but before kick off there were a few songs starting on the Kop, I'd have hoped that the away fans might have reciprocated. But no, all drowned out with loud music, just kills singing.

And while I am being grumpy, I even find the playing of Annie's Song annoying, if it's our anthem (which, of course, it is) we don't need telling when to sing it.

Pah.

I remember the end of the Semi Final at Old Trafford, we were having a go and they were booming out the same sort of guff. Mind you, I was very drunk at the time.

Agreed. Some of my earliest memories are the build up to kick off as both sets of fans get in to it and singing away at each other. There was a tannoy but it was shite. The speaker was like the one I had on my tomahawk for a little siren I had (police, fire, ambulance and a little mouthpiece bit you could use to shout through it).

I figured it was something that had to be done, but fuck me, it were right getting on my tits last night, and I'm usually generally very supportive of Gary Sinclair.

Hmmm. Perhaps we can ask some of the old guard: Before instructions on how to leave the ground were read out, how many days did you used to spend trapped inside Bramall Lane?
In fairness the instructions were about the Barrier on the junction of John Street/ the lane

Yes, in the 1980's the safety regulations for the away fans would have been something like this

1) Leave the tarpaulin shed via the opening at the back which has been cut open with a pair of tinsnips
2) Keep away from the edges because they are like razor blades
3) On leaving the tarpaulin shed all 5000 of you will be held in a tunnel capable of holding 200 people for at least 15 minutes
4) After 15 minutes we will open the gates at the end of the tunnel and you will be allowed onto a forecourt area
5) The forecourt area will be out in the rain and snow, nobody will have cleared it or put grit down, and the constant walking on it will have turned it into a freezing cold, slippy, sloshy mess, so be careful heh heh
6) If your Grandad falls over, fuck him, you shouldn't go away from home to watch football
7) The forecourt area will have a wall at the end with barbed wire and broken bottles around the top, so be careful heh heh
6) You will remain here for at least 20 minutes
7) Do not return the bricks and bottles that come flying over the wall because somebody on the outside of the wall might get injured
8) The police have instructions to beat anybody senseless that gets too close to them even though the pressure of 5000 people behind you is going to push you closer to them
9) Whilst wasting time policing you lot in here, the home fans have smashed all the windows in your coaches, but never mind
10) Have a safe and enjoyable day and a wonderful trip back home

And if you told kids today they wouldn't believe you

I think exiting the Railway End at Millmoor has to be the all time disaster waiting to happen experience. Talk about a bottle neck. And mounted police at the top of the gennel pinning you back.

OMG I remember it well
An attendance of 23000 at Millmoor at a time when Rotherham would have been lucky to get 3,000
I was only 16 and met the biggest wanker of a United fan on the planet.

We were crushed like sardines on the Railway end and this 40 year old prick turns around and says "Stop Fucking shoving" I just ignored him, I didn't know what else to do.
30 seconds later somebody further behind goes in his pocket for something and starts another sway of the crowd, so he turns around again and says " Narthen you little fucking wanka, I've telled thee stop shoving, shove me again and I'm gonna fuckin belt ya"

So I said "I didn't do anything" so the twat headbutted me.
My mates Dad was with us, he was a big, big fella and he got hold of him by the hair and literally dragged him over the top of me and gave him a swift talking too.....ahem

At one time, Blades fans would attempt to leave the Kop via the cricket pavilion, from Bramall Lane. Often during the game......

I lost both my shoes getting out of the railway end, was quite scary especially as we were getting bricks thrown at us. I was also on the Tivoli when the wall collapsed, glad they've built a new stadium after that death trap.

At the Baseball Ground there used to be a gennel as one of the exit routes. It was generally OK as although it was narrow, you went with the flow. That is until you got to the end of it, there was a cast iron bollard right in the middle to stop traffic going down it. I got caught against it square on my bollocks and the force of the crowd pushing behind me meant I couldn't move back. I honestly thought I was going to die until I "popped" over the top of it. Fucking mad in those days, there could have been a disaster every week at some of the venues that passed for football stadiums in those days.

Sinclair forgot to mention that although the away fans will be kept behind we have to take a detour via the Parkway to our cars which are parked in London Road therefore meeting up with the away fans anyway.

11) Should any incident occur, we will immediately seek the attention of Mr Meadows.
