Anyone but Sue Smith!Hope they get someone in who's a good role model with a bit of personality for young girls/women who might be new to the game.
I hope this isn’t the end of the women’s side, I’m not particularly interested in the women’s game but Covid related or not this will be spun badly in the media with having Saudi owners.
I think the issues facing the women’s game will come to a head sooner or later....it feels like it’s at a cross road.
Ive heard it said by some women that they wish to break away from the FA and either join the mens premier league or become totally financially independent.
The PL have recently announced that’s it’s not the right time to bring the women‘s league under their umbrella.
The problem is that even with massive promotion and advertising theres currently little money in the women’s game, average gates in the top flight are 1000 to 1500 when they charge £10. They’ve tried numerous free ticket promotions when a crowd will rise to over 30,000 but the next match when there’s a charge the attendance is back down to 1,000 again,
Basically the women’s game is a charity and needs continuous financial help from the parent club. If there are financial issues due to covid19 then tough decisions need to be made and the finance people would probably say it’s logical to cut expenditure in the women’s side.
It’s also run appallingly in some aspects.Problem with woman's football is it suffers so much compared to the men’s game due to the difference in pace and physicality. Athletics made the decision decades ago to slightly tweak things for womens events i.e lighter shotputs and discuss, lower hurdles etc, pentathlon and Heptahlon instead of Decathlon and it made for a better more entertaining product.
But to even suggest that they consider moving to a lighter ball, smaller pitch, Slightly smaller goals You are accused of sexism when actually it would make a better spectacle for the fans.
Who the fuck do they think they are making demands. Fuck them off, the lot of them. We’ve seen what happens when the first team players start making demands from the club.![]()
Sheffield United Women: Players losing trust in club after Carla Ward departure

It's not so much that changing the pitch/goals is "sexist" as much as you can easily alter track and field events for different competitors. If they use smaller goals, for instance, they'd potentially be blocking themselves from playing on everything from parks to major stadiums as you'd need to replaced the goalposts between games (which might be prohibitive given it requires digging holes). If you use a smaller pitch you'd need to remark and set new posts every game.
Even if there's way to make it workable it might still be a nightmare logistically. And when their resources for finding places to train and play are already limited, and with a history of the FA literally banning them from playing in major stadiums for decades, it's not an appealing idea right now.
I know the women's game isn't the highest standard but we do have to remember we intentionally hobbled it for years while the men's game grew into a multi-billion pound industry. Offering it some support now to see how much it can catch up seems fair enough.

You don’t have to dig holes for goals, you can get free standing nets. And these are already commonly used for age group football and small sided games where smaller goals are needed. It's not so much that changing the pitch/goals is "sexist" as much as you can easily alter track and field events for different competitors. Oh dearWho the fuck do they think they are making demands. Fuck them off, the lot of them. We’ve seen what happens when the first team players start making demands from the club.
Club owes them nothing. The minute a first team players starts making demands they get fucked off. Why should the women be treated any differently?Oh dear
They'll be wanting to drive next
They haven't demanded anything, they've voiced their opinion after losing their manager who's been outstanding for their team with no explanationClub owes them nothing. The minute a first team players starts making demands they get fucked off. Why should the women be treated any differently?
Maybe some of that money could go towards dedicated infrastructure then I see the issue with smaller goals but on pitch size most park pitches are quite small anyway so that shouldn’t be too much of a issue as I wasn’t thinking of altering the size of penalty areas.
A woman’s ball could be produced relative easily I would have thought, as I said ladies shot puts, discuss etc are already produced.

Most women’s football is also played on AstroTurf where smaller pitches are also marked out already in a different colour (not that it would be hard to mark out a smaller pitch on grass)
Some sports/events modify. Some don't.
Should women play tennis on a smaller court with smaller racquets, lighter balls etc.

Should they run shorter marathons?
Argument doesn't bear scrutiny.
The way I see it lighter balls, smaller pitch and the like is just trying to get them to play Men's Football Lite.
Women's football with standard size equipment is fine. Let them play the game they want in the way they want. I enjoy watching the top level games precisely because it's not a shit version of the men's game, it's a good version of a cousin of the men's game. More space, more time, less diving (mostly), just more football.
Smash the Patriarchy Sisters!

Aren't womens tennis matches normally shorter than mens? 3 sets rather than 5 for men? The courts/equipment are the same, but the length of the matches are shorter
True but the women’s game is already receiving massive support.
The BBC are constantly using positive discrimination and have massively promoted it for years. They are constantly trying to make women’s football fashionable but there doesn’t seem to be any real demand......it’s probably on a par with Sheffield FC and Hallam FC in the non league.
Agree we should try to help but how long should a parent club financially support a women’s club?
I reckon most football clubs will continuously support their women’s teams but only on a low budget....don’t think theres going to be any big investment.
Ideally there should be investment but we live in a financial world and i don't think women’s football will ever bring in much income.
