Thing is theres a lad who lives round near me, all through school he was a leeds fan as his dad and family were etc but he played at our academy.. only even known of him going to blades games in recent years so id guess he would now call himself a blade as such!

Must just have some effect on you being involved in a clubs academy for so long especially if you didnt get the boot from it either! Same as maguire apparently being a chesterfield/wednesday fan, ive only ever seen him at the lane since he left!?

There was a thread a while ago about ‘how did you become a Blade’ and there were plenty of posters with similar stories, grew up somewhere else, family supported someone else, they went to a few games but it never really grabbed them, then they went to the Lane (as a student or because they’d met a lass from Sheffield etc) and they instantly connected with United.
Our very own itsinyerblood is a Fulham fan really who’s become addicted to the Blades. It doesn’t matter.

Maguire watches at Chesterfield sometimes when his brother plays but don't think many would say he's a fan.

A mate of mine from school had no interest in football whatsoever till his early 20s and I started getting him to United games. Any of his school mates that hadn’t stayed in touch with him would probably be amazed to hear he’s a United fan – or deny that he’s a proper one because he wasn’t when at school. Neither of us have lived in Yorkshire, let alone Sheffield.

We all have our own ways that we’ve become fans – it really serves no purpose to view one route as somehow the only “proper” bona fide way of becoming a fan.

It happens all the time. Kyle may or may not have followed Leeds in his younger days, but his football abilities soon made him a Blade.

THE Flying Pig, Mel Sterland was a Blade as a kid, so there you go!

Bullseye. They hate that because they know once a Blade, always a Blade. They’d love one of ours to be a closet pig so they’re always trying to find one.

Seems odd that for 10 years he'd keep up a pretence of being a childhood Blade, attending certain games, refusing to celebrate a goal against us and constantly talking about us in the media/twitter etc merely to win himself a contract as he approaches the twilight of his career when getting his agent to send a whatsapp message would have the desired effect.

This is before you start wondering why a self confessed mate of his feels the need to call him out on a public forum like this.

As did I!
What a coincidence. Imagine if your mothers had the same maiden name. What was yours? Oh, and maybe you went to the same school, what was your primary school and the name of your first teacher?
Just wondering like.

Wait what! are you now saying Chalky is a Blade also? seriously your all off your nut LOL

Maybe him drinking on London Rd and hanging around with Blades all his life has swung it for you but Chalky not being Leeds is laughable.

Why would he lie about him not being a Blade? Seriously why?

Or they're now in a "relationship"

It’s just the rambling nature of the posts that I find annoying.

Don’t you find yourself a bit hypocritical when you say: ‘Even though he says he’s a blade, he isnt! Here’s some evidence of that’

It’s almost like ‘even though I say I’m his mate, I’m not! Here’s some evidence of that.’

I don’t care how many loyalty points he has. He shows a desire to come and play for us. What’s the difference? Basham isn’t a blade either you know.

Hold up Brown
Are you telling me that my favourite ex McDonald’s
Burger flipper is not a Blade!!!???
Well that’s it
I’ve set fire to my season ticket as we speak and next I am going to torch Basham’s name off the back of my shirt
I mean fuck me all I’m bothered about is that our players are blades for life
I don’t care if they can’t Kick a ball and steal a wage.......
What is the world coming to

Apparently he’s not even from Sheffield. I wondered why he talked funny.

Anyone mates with or went to school with any other “famous” Blades?

I’ll start this off, Dane Whitehouse was in the year above me at school, definitely a blade

<Blad>
I'll tell you something now Dane Whitehouse is not a Blade. If he had a choice between United winning the league or Worksop Town he'd pick Worksop. I was his best mate growing up and he's a right nobhead. But I love him and would love to see him in a United shirt again. Not convinced he needed to retire either.

To summarise - best mate but I'm here to slag him off and I know something you all don't.
</Blad>
