Or year after year, regardless of who we appoint as fall guy... I mean manager, we fail to identify and acquire the players to form a squad capable of mounting a credible challenge for a top two place.

Oh, that's true as well, but it ain't because we don't sign X...

No, it's because we don't sign any of ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ and instead try to make do with ? / < > and @#; and ^.

But it's the "sign someone; sign anyone; but sign him now!" advocates that, by definition, want to "make do" isn't it? CW prefers to go after the players HE wants. That's OK by me.

By the way, a belated welcome to the forum. You have overcome my highly prejudiced approach to your antecedent history...

One step too far with Mr Whitehouse there sir. Definitely not a player I would associate with your anti kick and run campaign.

Not sure if the post was a reference to Dane and the era he played or my own history as a blades-madder.....

I don't think people mean "anyone" I think they mean someone decent before all that's left is shite like we had last year with Woolford or the year before with McEveley whilst teams around us made a far better fist of their recruitment.

I think it's hard to say who is a good or bad signing without knowing all of the terms in context of all other players but teams like Charlton, Peterborough and Millwall seem to be making signings that many think would improve our squad. If Wilder is able to get in similar or better players to those going elsewhere then I think most will be happy but I think a degree of concern and frustration is entirely understandable.

Oh, indeed not. A proper footballer whose career was ended far too early. I didn't, however, rate his contemporary Mitch Ward much.

Not nearly a patch on Dane but a good servant to the club who helped out in pretty much any role he was asked to.

Taken from the Stir.

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson is unlikely to have the final say on Kyle McFadzean’s future as the defender attempts to force through a move to Sheffield United.

Less than a week after the centre-half confirmed his desire to leave Buckinghamshire by submitting a formal transfer request, Robinson has launched a counter offensive in the battle for McFadzean’s services by refusing to meet with Chris Wilder’s side

Robinson, who expressed an interest in taking charge of United before David Weir’s appointment three years ago, accepted the player appears destined to leave stadium:mk but will not be sold to a League One rival. But Bramall Lane’s negotiating team, aware that Robinson’s chairman Pete Winkleman will decide the Steelphalt Academy graduate’s fate, suspect Monday’s outburst is simply an attempt to spark a bidding war between themselves and several Championship teams also reportedly monitoring the situation.

McFadzean, who made one appearance for United before joining Alfreton in 2008, is believed to have set his heart on returning to the club he has supported since childhood. Robinson’s statement - “I don’t care if it makes a player unhappy...if they don’t want to turn up and get fined then fine. It’s not got to that with Kyle yet” - suggests the relationship between the two men is becoming increasingly strained.

Indeed, Robinson pointedly chose to namecheck McFadzean after confirming Paul Downing’s capture from Walsall.

“I’ve always liked Paul,” he said. “Between him, Kyle McFadzean and Joe Walsh, it’s a really strong back three competing. And they’re all a good age. I want a young, fresh, vibrant group.”

United targeted McFadzean after Wilder released Jay McEveley, Harrison McGahey and Terry Kennedy during a cull of the squad which finished 11th in the table under Nigel Adkins last term. With David Edgar and Alex Baptiste also leaving after their respective loan agreements expired, Wilder wants to sign at least two centre-halves before the start of the forthcoming campaign.

Talks with at least two other targets are thought to have reached an advanced stage as Wilder seeks to avoid a repeat of the ‘Dan Burn’ saga which overshadowed much of his predecessor’s reign. Burn, who recently joined Wigan Athletic, was the subject of at least four failed offers from United before leaving Fulham.

He's been away the last week at a wedding, abroad. Might have sumat to do with the hold up.

Wonder if it's worth putting a bit of money on him signing for Rotherham ?

He has said the player can leave. Just not to a rival club. He has got that spot on, he will only sell the player if it has a positive outcome for them.

You're completely forgetting that when a bigger Club comes in for one of your players you cannot do anything about it ....... you have to sell !!

Our board have told us this so many times we should realise it by now :eek:o_O

Sad truth is that, on current form, league position and activity, we are not the bigger club between us and MK. That's how shite we have become in the last 6 years :o

Mk looking for £500,000 for McFadzean, hasnt turned up for training or spoken to Karl Robinson in over a week.
