More than one way to skin a cat.....MK refuse to sell to us....but will to someone else.
Unbeknown o them, but arranged with us and agent is that the club they are actually selling to is in agreement to sell straight on to is for a small percentage and a future favour....been done before.

We are Sheffield United not Real Madrid.

With championship interest they don't have to sell to us...now Macfadzean has to decide whether to stay at MK and leave on a free when his contract is up or go to Cardiff/Birmingham etc. I think he will choose the latter.

Well done to a manager and board telling a player what's what rather than bending over a la Blades style !

Is it me or am I only one who don't see fuss over this lad? Yes he is a Blade. So is his brother. I have watched him maybe a dozen times for Crawley and MK Dons over the last 3 or 4 years and not once have I see him play well. Maybe I have been unlucky or he is not very good on TV or v SUFC?

A very average player who is another player badly lacking pace and technnique and sadly from what I saw of him not the dominant kick it away type either. I am not sure he is much better than Edgar who we chose not to sign.

Seriously we need to move on. He is going to command a fee on top of Championship level wages. I think we do better. Of course we wont......

There are other very decent centre-backs out there. McFadz has suddenly become the "must have". I don't get it. He's not Eddie Colquhoun or Joe Shaw.

Did he? ....Right. Is he? ....Oh.

I get it now....

Precisely Pinchy, he's not the only centre half around.

I'm fairly certain a player can't move twice in a transfer window, possibly a season

Why do we always struggle to get our main targets, yet other clubs manage them with ease??
Because as much as we pretend, we do not know how to negotiate. When Kev says you cantwstop a player leaving if he wants to what he forgot to add is and still make money on him (or at least don't lose any!)

Not even Mallender , Flynn , or Powell.

We are chasing him , last time I saw him play he was chasing shadows . No feel good factor for me with this one.

He has said the player can leave. Just not to a rival club. He has got that spot on, he will only sell the player if it has a positive outcome for them.

He's too good for League 2, where no club could afford him anyway, and anyone who stands to gain points off MK is a rival which rules out a League 1 move. Lower end Championship is his only choice in that case, and if rumour is to be believed he wants a move to us. KR is shitting on his prospects

If the price is right and the player doesn't want to be at the club, that should be enough. No player is bigger than a club, but is the club bigger/more important than a person's happiness and wellbeing? I don't think it is.

Is he officially 'the new Dan Burn' yet!?!?
Or should we wait till the 1st of July?

Although Karl Robinson, Wilder’s counterpart at Stadium MK, yesterday warned that bid is doomed for failure, The Star understands McFadzean still features on United’s wanted list despite talks with another centre-half reaching an advanced stage.

“I’m comfortable, possibly more comfortable than I’ve ever been as a manager, that we’ll get this right,” Wilder said. “We are okay. But we do recognise, from a recruiting point of view, that the next 10 days are really important and that we have to ramp it up. Come to conclusions on things. We’d like to think, and possibly this is putting us right under pressure, that we are looking to get two or three definitely in during that time frame.”

Oh dear. Music to the ears of targets agents.

And yours no doubt? gives you a timeframe to hold him too and if its not done to the second then its open season.

No, because as I said, him saying that means it's likely to be delayed past his time frame anyway. Unless he pays what their agents ask.

If there's going to be anything to criticise it's saying things like that, not the consequences of it.

We all know McFadzean is going to be tricky to get over the line...we're not going to pay what Mk want and Fadz is going to come down with a severe case of sunstroke at this rate...

Wonder who the second CB is who's at an 'advanced stage' of talks?

And so the latest interview gives some insight into the difficulty faced by managers in recruiting players for this club.
It's been the same for a very long time, I believe since Robson and Blackwell wasted millions and destroyed the squad respectively. The owner and board want to be involved (interfere IMHO) and in doing so set far too many parameters to make the job possible.

I have no doubt we will get some players in, but it will be way later than we stated and to the detriment of the teams preparations for the new season. I think we will also have see some pissing backwards on the budget etc as time moves on and a bit of panic sets in, and that often results in the wrong players being brought in.
We have already suffered like this with Clough, and missed out on not only first choice targets but all of them. We saw money thrown at the problem under Adkins and it tanked!

So after the next 10 days, when we still haven't got the numbers in he wants what then? A loosening of the parameters so that agents and players can take advantage again? Or continue with the current unworkable formula so we have no option but to include those on the list as part of the playing squad?

Something is going to have to give.

Kevin Long?

I know there are 3 signings at an advanced stage, but didn't hear one was a CB. where is that from Esa? Thanks in advance

...you probably missed it because it features mostly on Fadz and the general 'Bladey-Bladesnevss' therein... ;)

Think we need to move on, unfortunately. But Karl Robinson has come across as a right royal cunt there, in my eyes.. I understand having a tough stance and we could've done with one ourselves a few times, but this quote here...

I don’t care if it makes a player unhappy - he can sit in the reserves. MK Dons are bigger than any of us and it’ll be here longer than any of us. No-one is for sale to a competitor."

Boss would rather make a person miserable than sell up. I fundamentally disagree with this kind of stance. If a player doesn't want to be at a club, let them fuck off. Don't keep people in places they don't want to be.

The flip side is that the player willingly signed up to a contract for that period because he wanted the security of that contract. Now he’s changed his mind and wants to go. I think the club is within it’s rights to say no. That said, I can understand why people wouldn’t.

The way I see if from our point of view is this. McFadzean is a decent league 1 centre half but he’s not such a good player that we should be pulling out all the stops for him. He’s not a patch on Maguire for example. Closer to Edgar I would say in quality. He’d be OK and he wants to be here etc. Worth making a bid to MK, maybe in the region of £200k but let’s not be held to ransom. We can look elsewhere and quickly.

Kevin Long
Curtis Nelson
Aaron Pierre
Nathan Cameron
John Egan
David Edgar ( know plenty don't rate him but I think he's decent)
Dan Burn

Still a fair few decent centre halves out there who we could go for. We need to get a shift on though with Tafazolli and Downing snapped up, we need to get some in before the rest are gone and we’re left with crap again.

Dan burn out the picture, signed for Wigan

I suppose there has to be someone to mean missing out on better players while chasing for weeks on end.

Proposition: Fan thinks we should sign player X.

Possibilities:
1. Manager doesn't rate X. He's seen him play. He thinks he's shite or has a bad attitude or a latent injury. We are not interested in X.
2. Manager thinks X is a good player but agent X, and or Club Y, and or X, are greedy twats and manager thinks signing X would not be good value. We are not interested in X at that price.
3. Manager wants X. X, for personal reasons, wants to play his football down South. We can't persuade X to move and kidnapping is a serious crime.

Conclusion:
We've missed out. Club's fault.

Or year after year, regardless of who we appoint as fall guy... I mean manager, we fail to identify and acquire the players to form a squad capable of mounting a credible challenge for a top two place.
