Perhaps.....but would you want him in the dressing room??

Koumas easily, but to be fair they are different types of players now.

I dont care about the dressing room, i care about what happens on the pitch.

What happens on the pitch is often affected by what happens in the dressing room I'm afraid.

It shouldn't but it does!

He doesnt seem to be causing much trouble now, i dont think there would be any problems with him.

God knows we could do with him, wont happen though.

Looking at the way Warnock has reacted to so called dressing room problems in the last few seasons he wouldn't have a chance.....

I'm thinking...Cullip, The Horse, Ade.....he hasn't been seen in public much since the Claude trouble.

The "team" thing is worth something looking at the performances of the un-sung such as Geary and Kozzy who are the perfect "dressing room" types as Warnock has said on many occasions.

I've always admired the abilities of Koumas as I'm sure many managers have....but their must be something stopping "bigger" clubs taking the gamble.

I've not seen enough of Koumas to make a firm decision, but he would have to be good to be better than Tonge.

I'm with SF on this one. Koumas has been touted around as a quality player for a good few seasons now and some of his performances justified this, but there is something that stops the Premier League clubs taking him on, even the ones in serious trouble have backed off.

Lose the dressing room as a manager and you are out on your arse, quick sharp and with Koumas there you are more likely to have this happen, bottom line. Fans go for the pitch stuff, pros in the game the bigger picture, stick with Tonge

Well maybe some day a premiership manager will have to take a gamble on him? Neil should have been that man in the summer IMO.

Koumas is the type of player Tonge used to be, if tongey had some confidence in his abilty then he probably would be the better player.

his goal today against barnsly was a goal tonge would used to score. but hes passed it really. not really a coincidence that were playing better without tonge in the side, we did it last season.

im sure warnock could sort koumas out he has done with other players...

Koumas or not, we need someone of quality in the middle to increase our time in possession - pass the ball and be available for the return. Regardless, we will probably end up having to take a chance on someone in trouble, we'll not buy a star for two million pounds.

If tonge was consistent it would be tonge for me but he really isnt doing it for me, although i want to see him when he is back!

Koumas is a quality player has the ability but warnock would really have to think about things that coudl occur in the changing rooms and wether he could keep it under control!

Irrelevant the choice between these two.

One plays on wing, and the other plays in the middle (well he does now anyways)

Koumas can create chances out of nothing, tonge could not create a story.

I think Koumas is worth the gamble, we have seen many players with disruptive reputations that can flourish with the right personnel around them (Bellamy, Anelka, Keef, etc) and i think that we are the right kind of club for him.

The problem is that his stock is rising with the goals and performances that he is putting in - if we want him we should secure him now in the right price bracket.

Tonge is so overated. When was the last time he put in a man of the match performance

Agreed about him being overated. But he did put in some decent displays at end of last term.

I think you lot are way off about Tonge, overated? He was our MOTM pretty much every game the 2nd half of last season.

The only player we have who can pass a ball, put somebody decent alongside him and then we will see him in full flow.

As ive said, its all about his confidence and people knocking him will make it no better.

Lets put it this way, ifs its a choice between Monty and Tonge or Leggy and Tonge it really isnt a tough decsion.

I agree that Tonge is the best of the current midfield crop but i haven't seen anything over the past 2 seasons to suggest he can re-capture the form of the season he played alongside Michael Brown.

I hope he can get back to that level but as things stand, i would prefer Jason Koumas to Michael Tonge if i had a choice of the two.
