Just seen the kop isn’t open for the Barnet game. No atmosphere guaranteed then. I think it’s a mistake doing that and will give Barnet a better opportunity of not losing.

Yes but it must cost at least 6 grand to open the Kop for a game like that.

It's the same for the early cup games in the Carabao cup too, think it's been the case for a while.

From a staffing perspective, what'sthe point of dispersing 5/6k around 3 stands?

Kop was shut for Port vale in 2012.

Still a decent atmosphere. "one Mickey Adams, there's only one Mickey Adams". I think it's the only game I've ever been to when both teams have chanted the same song.

I honestly think we should win it this year. Man City in the final, Billy to score the winner in extra time, despite City having 70 shots on goal :)

You’ll be telling us we’re underdogs next!

That’s an interesting estimate. Most people would say 5 grand or 10 grand but you say six.

Don’t know why but just thought I’d make that observation ;)

Sooner we are out of that poxy competition the better

Normally I’d agree - I tend to be much more interested in the league, and worry that a cup run will affect our chances.

However, I feel a bit differently this season. I think our chances of promotion are very slim, and I think we’re safe from relegation, so I wouldn’t mind a cup run to make something of the season.

I’d give some of the younger players and those on the edge of the first 11 a chance in games like this against Barnet, but if we win a couple and get to the 5th round, I’d throw everything at it from there on.

Great news – I’ve been hoping for a replay to finally visit The Hive. Obviously if it hampers us so much that we lose the initial tie, I’ll be less happy.

I’ll be very unhappy if this one is sub 10k. It’s a club we’ve never played, we’ve got a good chance of winning while playing hopefully some Academy prospects, we’ve priced it reasonably. I mean we got 11,000 against Worcester when we were playing in League 1 and had Adkins in charge – if we can’t better that when we’re unrecognisably more positive in every respect than we were at that time then we should collectively be a bit embarrassed.

We only got 11,280 against a decent Leicester side in the Carabao cup last season so I think you'll be disappointed, afternoon kick off will help but I think it'll be around 7k

A shame really if it is, cheap tickets, good opportunity of seeing some youth prospects etc

Maybe we'll be able to say we were there for Championship top scorer Tyler Smith's first senior appearance before he propelled us to the Premier League :)

Why not, Henderson will go down in history with that many saves, will be the most iconic keeper ever. :p

Makes sense, sadly. But personally i'd rather have fans on all sides of the ground.

The problem is that both clubs receive a share of the gate receipts, so we'd have to agree with Barnet, but I'd give free tickets to University students and school kids.

I seem to recall only South and John Street stands being open for all early round cup games (both competitions) for at least 15 years or so, with the exception of the bigger games. It makes sense from the club's perspective to help maximise their revenue and if we sell out, the Kop will be opened.

So why is the Kop chosen to be the stand they don't open?
When were the fans asked where they'd rather sit for cup games?
I very rarely touch the early cup matches until the kop is open

Bugger it then if I can't sit in my seat I'll stay away

I've got my seats in the South Stand, see if them posh folks grumble any less..

Because it's the biggest in the whole ground and I'd assume, costs the most to open. The South Stand needs to be open as it is the main stand. John Street, I'd suspect as the corporate boxes will be open anyway.

The choices make the most sense.

Them lot are closing their Kop for the Luton game too. Just shows even the worlds biggest club can’t sell the magic of the cup

I don't think I've ever read such a daft post on here.
Absolutely zero chance of that happening.
Crystal Palace will do them in the semis ;)

Even if they did open the Kop it wouldn't be a decent atmosphere against Barnet. I'm sure we'll still have too much for Barnet!

No excuse for not reaching at least the quarters.

Opportunity for me to take my little un to her first game. Cheap enough for me to not lose out if she doesn’t like it but not a large enough crowd for her to get ‘scared’ or ‘alarmed’ by the occasion.
