If Wilder went how would you feel if KM and the Prince offered the managers job to Knill ? Would it soften the blow knowing that a man who has seen how Wilder operates comes in and carries on where he left off.
All the talk of CW leaving by the way is contrary to what I heard MaCabe say at the shareholders meeting, he said he was on the phone most days to CW and more so when we'd had a bad result consoling him and telling him what a great job he is doing. That seems to fly in the face of what the doomongers on here are saying that there's a deafening silence coming out of the boardroom.:(

As there is no loyalty to football clubs by the employee's anymore, then i would think that Knill will jump ship with Wilder.

How on earth do you know that ? as they say money talks .
Im just reading between the lines mate if wilder left he's left for a reason ie lack of funds to push so why would they let wilder walk but then offer knill big money to stay ? Oh I can feel a conspiracy thread starting ere.The board want wilder out and knill as manager it all makes sense now

Alan Knill has no interest in being a manager again, or at least he didn't this time last year. And that's from the horse's mouth.

Lovely genuine bloke and based on his explanation why, I doubt even good money would change that.

do you mind? i already proposed a conspiracy about van Winkel.. thread jumper :D

Problem is good assistants don’t necessarily make good managers when trying to keep continuity .General,y speaking the manager takes his back room team with him so it would probably entail Knill building his own so defeats object really . I like Knilly nice bloke , but I see him as a second in command & his previous managerial record isnt too great

He was put in an awkward position at Torquay tbf and didn't feel he could say no to taking the reins due to why the previous manager left.

to be fair, I think he's our best chance of convincing Wilder that it's worth waiting a while for the dust to settle with the owners and then decide if they have clarity and the means to achieve what they want.

Wilder says he's a planner and he clearly wears his heart on his sleeve. Knill seems more chilled and reflective and may be able to convince CW to wait on. That's partly why they're such a great team.

Knill as a number 1 has been proven unsuccessful. Anyhow if Wilder goes, he does so it's irrelevant.

I think Knill is more pissed off with the situation than Wilder tbh...

I think he would be stupid to take it on. These assistant managers at big clubs earn mega money and can always drop down to manage a team.

Appleton for example been crap everywhere he has been apart from one season in League 2. Gets assistant manager job at Leicester and now he’s in the running for Sunderland.

nahhh he wouldn't take it anyway his house is up for sale ! Purple bricks I believe . U know the ones with no commission ! Got purple signs , there on TV , estate agents on that internet thingy, that wedding reception advert , you know the one !!

Knill has great football and tactical knowledge
But the mistake is that great coaches think they will automatically make great managers.

It’s a totally different skill set.
Being a good manager is something you’re born with, very difficult to teach,
You need to be a good leader, good man manager, good psychology, helps if you have great charisma and presentation skills.

Knill has admitted himself that in retrospect he now realised that being “a manager” is not his strength.

I love the bloke but if you hear him talk he’s probably more boring to listen too than Sean Odriscoll.
He wouldn’t last 2 minutes being manager at SU.
