Was shocked by the lack of atmosphere last night.

It's my first visit to this place and as expected it was a decent looking modern bowl with good views for all. Looks like they picked number 3 from the "buy an identikit football ground" brochure.

The striking thing was how deathly quiet their fans were throughout. Apart from the 150 lads standing next to the away end with the inevitable drum, the rest of the ground seemed to have turned up to watch ice hockey. Pathetic goal music, then back to sitting on their hands 30 seconds later. At least Derby seemed to have a "home end" behind the goal.

I know we can criticise the atmosphere at BDTBL but it was a real insight into how a move to new stadium can totally change the matchday experience, for the worse. I've been to few of these modern bowls now and they are all crap for atmosphere.

It's all relative pal. Two years ago they were that loud it was picked up by the local seismometer like an earthquake. We're small fry to them these days so less atmospheric. Like us in league one.

One of the worst away days. Parking and getting to ground a nightmare. Getting in a pain who decided everyone should be searched allowing one through at a time. And finally a refreshment team who seemed to have less idea than the ones in the south stand.
Well I'd like to buck the trend we had a great night some great pubs and the natives were a very friendly bunch also the fans were brilliant never stopped singing

Zat ma frend eez an insult to da fine boyz n gurlis lurking after ze geriatrics! Ah will orsewhip you behind ze stand for such impertinence.

Hundreds of Blades outside the turnstiles at kick-off time combined with the most thorough security searches I've experienced at a football match meant I and many others missed the first ten minutes.

This was absolutely hideous. They searched everyone for at least 30 seconds. There was no warning these measures would be in place. Combine that with a low number of turnstiles and it was inevitable plenty would miss kick off because of it. I got in 30 mins early and said in the queue that they needed to speed it up. No surprise many missed kick off.

Leicester should be getting a number of complaints and I'll send one myself. Over the top, unnecessary and stopped people seeing part of a game they've paid and travelled to see on a Friday night. Not acceptable.

Really poor away experience.
Traffic bottlenecks from the outskirts right to the ground.so took twice as long as expected.
Only two pubs anywhere near the stadium. Both inevitably hugely rammed so abandoned that idea.

The whole area reminded me of MK. Lots of retail parks but non existent facilities for tens of thousands of people going to a football match who need to be fed and watered.
Ended up going for a waz at Morrison’s and joined a queue of both home and away fans in the bog. Was going to go to Morrison’s cafe after, but another massive queue of mainly football fans. Imagine being a Leicester fan and knowing that every home game your best chance of getting some food (apart from burger vans, which we ended up using) is to join a long queue in a supermarket.

Stadium, soulless and the back of the away end designed by a prison planner. Despite being newly built, poor leg room - although we did stand all game fortunately.
Took ages to clear the stand after the game and then joined another long queue of traffic to get away.

Other than that oh and the result it was great. Highly recommended.

The ground has seen a big upgrade but it was what you would expect having been in the champions league.

The atmosphere from there fans was better than BDTBL. This is one of there most least attractive games this season. It’s like us playing Walsall in Cup.

It's the usual football ground meccano set. Looks easy on the eye but is really a ten a penny ground which is far the most part soulless with little or no history attached (I suppose you could say that they ha e already made some history in that ground with the prem win) but it ain't no Bramall Lane.

The Lane just oozes with character (stands all built at different times in our history with different designs) and you can almost smell the history of our club. I sometimes think of my long departed pre generation family and all those fellow blades fans who went to the Lane like we do. The Lane pisses all over the new styled soulless football grounds.

Support wise, our fans were really good. As expected in the circumstances.

Leicester weren't bad, all things considered. They don't have an ideal focal point for their home support but just a few hundred next to the away fans can make plenty of noise. That's all it takes for somewhere to sound louder than BL because our noise comes from a mile away from the pitch.

Every single game you watch you hear "football in a library" and "your support is fucking shit" from the away fans. As if they don't realise their home support is just as bad... it's become a joke. It speaks volumes about the state of things in this country. Everybody thinks everybody's support's shit but nothing is done about it.

We came off the M1 at 6.10pm yet missed the first minute or so thanks to the shocking congestion followed by the ridiculous searching of every single individual (Blades fans only?) at a snail pace. The guy stood next to us arrived at his seat over 10 mins in and told of how Blades fans stormed a turnstile at kick off in frustration causing his young lad to be crushed and Leicester to temporarily close the turnstile. It was, quite frankly a joke situation brought on by piss poor security, proven when at least 1 smoke bomb went off in the concourse at half time

To be fair, it's comparable to if we played Bradford at home in the 5th round.

The Lane wouldn't be full, they'd probably sell out and create most of the noise and we'd be sitting there expecting to play them off the park.

traffic system around leicester is shocking, blame the mayor for closing lanes to allow cycle lanes, causing massive congestion on a daily basis, all part of his master plan to eventually bring in congestion charges, or ditch the car for a bike

getting into the ground crap, after a rather thorough search ticket didnt scan so then had to be escorted to the ticket office where the bloke said to the steward just let him in, apparently since they got rid of tickets with a barcode they are still having problems with ticket scanning around the whole of the ground its a right pain for home and away fans

onto the refreshment stand where the girl serving had never served a pint in her life, no one had ever told her to tilt the glass , offered a pint pot with very little liquid just froth

hate the place

I was one of them. A horrible experience after my small skirmish outside afterwards with one of their deluded knobheads. Utb

Traffic was terrible in the 80s with no bike lanes.

and the air quality is much better.

Leicester city centre has improved enormously in the past 10 yrs.
The mayor is democratically elected and won by a landslide 55% of the vote.
Seems like his policies are very popular,
Free public transport would solve much of the congestion, and reclaim the streets.
.

All these out of town bowls are shockingly bad for transport congestion, because of the T style road design of 3 ways in or out.
It's also not helped at night when the local train services finish so early though and the park and ride services close at 7pm.

Good to hear. I haven’t been to the City Centre for 25+ years! I used to take my chances cycling from Melton Road to the University.

Did anyone else feel the stand moving underfoot last night when even just a few blades started jumping up and down. Christ knows what it would be like if a "Poznan" broke out. Or is this a safety feature to neglect forces "Flexible Concrete" ?

so losing a lane around the newarks and welford road for a handful of bikes was worthwhile you think, no doubt youll be happy when soulsby brings in congestion charges, thats where its heading
yes the town centre has improved our slab square is a visitors must, just be careful crossing the pavement dodging the taxis and other vehicles sharing the road/pavement
still it will be wonderful when everyones going to work on there cycles, quite how i carry my scaffold on it i dont know. its shite end of

Eh? I haven’t been to the centre of Leicester in 25+ years, I was just pointing out that the traffic was awful all that time ago.

Yes. We noticed that and were suitably unnerved.

apologies wapping, my post was aimed for davies comments not yourself. can honestly say you aint missed owt in those 25 years

If that had been a CL match, reading from the supporter's experiences so far, LCFC would be looking at a financial fine...
Bt it wasn't, it was ONLY the FA Cup and ONLY Sheffield United.
