Probably putting 2&2 together and coming up with 5 but could the player Clough alluded to in his recent interview as potentially signing this week and who hasn't being mentioned as a potential target by the media be this guy?

Has just been reported within the last half hour he has rejected a new contract extension at Rotherham, he would be an ideal signing for us too!

He would be a coup if it were to be him, more likely to have Championship clubs chasing him though.

I would guess he has rejected his contract in hope of getting a move to a better championship club. Doubt he'll wanna drop back down again

Why not MattB, next year, we will be a better Championship side.

Why should he take the gamble? He can either:

  1. Stay at toytown and play in championship
  2. Sign for a better championship team
  3. Drop back down and hope to get back to the championship
If say Derby or Forest or someone came in for him even Blackpool, Charlton or Millwall. He would sign for them rather than us.

Would be great. But not happening

Steady on....starting to sound like the arrogants if we aren't careful

Nothing guaranteed about the coming season and we all know how expert The Blades are at cocking things up

Nothing wrong with a bit of enthusiasm and confidence though mate.

"We always cock it up..." can very easily become a self-fulfilling prophecy. The Blades are moving into forward gear at last. Why apply the handbrake all the time?

ever present last season, personally think he'd be a great signing but no chance

That's what nearly 50 years supporting the Mighty Blades does for you ;)

Said it "tongue in cheek" , not meant to be arrogant. Although, if Brayford doesn't see it as a bad move and Freeman would prefer a long contract, I don't see why others couldn't see what is being built here.

To be honest, I think it might take a few weeks to get into our stride if we are starting without Brayford, Coady etc. We may need to be patient.

We are also hearing that Bristol City have made a bid for Rotherham United striker Kieran Agard. Agard recently turned down the offer of a new deal New York Stadium and Bristol City are hoping to lure him to Ashton Gate.

Would be a great signing for us, surely a move to Blades would be more appealing than Bristol City and Rotherham?

If Bristol are in for him then then we should be.

The sqaud we have now In my opinion is slightly weaker than the end of last season, unless something drastic happens with us signing a forward, I can't see us getting top six.

We often had a weak squad with Warnock but he was a motivator and got the best out of his players. I don't think we have a weak squad at all but I do tend to agree with you a little other clubs out there in our league are signing better players than we are unfortunately.....but its not about individual's its about a squad and how they are managed, both of these things make me confident with Clough on board.

Just wont happen

Clough says he's happy with his strikers and not looking to add

Clough will not spend what Rotherham want

Take that with a pinch of salt. Had the Freeman deal not collapsed we'd have had one more striker already in Bennett.

I suspect that a large influencing factor on why we haven't spent a large amount this window is that Clough sees us as being in a far better position than our competitors to attracting quality in the loan market - players that might not become surplus to requirements till Sept 1, and who we couldn't expect to sign outright but could for a limited spell. That's a gamble certainly, but I could see us gaining the most by finding a couple of quality players that have been frozen out at their clubs, in the same way we got Brayford rather than any other club.

Save yourself a lot of time and effort when contemplating which targets we will sign by using my quick check list

1 . Will he cost money ? y/n

Allegedly couldn't agree personal terms with Leeds according to the Yorkshire Post (source was my friend telling me a YP journo tweeted it)

Has been the subject of some 'aggressive' bidding on Tuesday afternoon from an unnamed club according to Evans in his post match last night, and it wasn't Leeds.

They are asking £1million .......................... I think we can dismiss this rumour ;)

I have a good idea, despite any media reports, of what the club are asking for and an actual hint of what they'll accept

It is not £1m

Perhaps add ons may take it to that figure, I don't know?

However, looking at NC's transfer dealings foray this close season, I think it's fairly safe to say fergerrit

£1m for a proven striker should be within our range with the Maguire money and game changing investment. It's not going to happen though with our Board. Whether he would come to a L1 club is another matter.
