Doing a really good job at Ipswich, not much in the way of managerial track record as he is only 47, but decent pedigree and results speak for themselves. Smashed Ipswich out of league one in his first full season and up at the top end of the Championship so far this season.
Would he be tempted? Remains to be seen but if we are seriously looking for a new manager to turn things around long term then it seems a good shout.
Got to be better than the usual suspects on the managerial merry go round.

Any manager with any sense is not joining a club the owner wants to sell let alone one with such a weak squad and adrift.

His stock is high. He doesn't need us.

It would be a great move for us. McKenna would see it at best as a lateral move

Why would he join a team on the slide with no money, when he's at a team on the up with good finances. Ed Sheeran or a random Saudi Prince as your boss.

Ipswich look set to be promoted to the prem with owners far richer than ours I can’t see why he’d jump ship right now. Maybe in a year or two if they do get to the prem and he gets fired.

Typo - he is 37.

why what ?
Why he would come.

We looked nailed on to go down. He's already done great with Ipswich last season and they are going really strong this season. If he gets Ipswich up he will have a squad riding the crest of a wave (Think like Wilder did) and also I'd bet their owners (At Ipswich) might commit more than £20m of fees to Ipswich's transfer kitty....

Its genuinely not in his best interests to come here.

"Hey Kieran, fancy coming and managing a worse squad, in a higher division, with no budget, for less wages?"

"Well when you put it like that Stephen, where do I sign?"

pay him whatever it takes!! get him in and let him build.

hey keiran do you rate yourself highly enough to do a job with a bigger club in a higher division or do you want to hope your star never fades and your always this in demand ?

Aye
“Bigger club” ?
“Higher division” (until May @ best)
How’s that “star” look with a relegation @ Bramall Lane on your CV?
“rate yourself highly enough” & sufficiently “in demand” currently to think Sheffield United are the best he can hope for ?

The man must be an imbecile not to have resigned, brushed the straw out of his hair , fired up the tractor & pointed it towards the A14

you can argue about how shit you think our football club is all you like
all im saying is that any manager worth his salt will believe he can turn round any team in any division if he doesnt he wont be a manager very long

managers are slightly more positive than fans especially ours

The investment company behind them is reportedly worth $10bn.

He’d be mad to come here, they will spend more than us this January.
Surely not. Is there an airport in Ipswich?

Aye
But
What is the appeal of our club to this particular ‘candidate’ especially when he compares / contrasts his current position / status with what we have to offer.
There are few (if any) gaffers that would / do leave a club in Ipswich’s position for one in ours otherwise Pep Klopp et al would be fighting on a heap to manage Forest Green
I doubt being “slightly more positive” is sufficient attraction / incentive - highly unlikely we can even offer any financial inducement irrespective of (realistic) fans

so us and ipswich are comparable to man city and forest green.
ok

ok
May as well be - exaggerated to make a point - but you knew that didn’t you ? - whilst you (continue to) ignore the fundamental point - we are (currently) far less attractive to McKenna than Ipswich
ie the suggestion that he’d ‘ abandon’ them for us is as ludicrous as Pep leaving City for anyone else - apart from maybe a bigger, better resourced, financially rewarding club

if he doesnt want to come then perhaps thats for the best
weve got plenty of miserable fannies with no fight as it is
as evidenced by your post

That's just somebody being deluded, not a good manager.
Being a good manager requires they can identify where they need to strengthen and do it. It doesn't mean they can turn any team round.

He's too inexperienced to run the full football side of the club. That's a prerequisite for any manager change. We don't employ anyone between Bettis and 1st team boss.
