Surprised nobody has posted this already. This was in the star on Saturday. He's been training at Shirecliffe. 20yrs old Defender.

Anybody know more?

He was on trial for an u21 game at the end of the season. Unfortunately I can't find the thread. I believe he is a left sided centre back / left back who could be a cheaper alternative to Hill.

He's allmost nailed on to sign and if he does brayford is definately a no go cause this lad is right footed and can play anywhere along the back line, but he does prefer full back

I think Stewart's more a quick replacement for Hill, covering all the positions at the back as Hill could, but not necessarily being first choice. I'd expect us to get an established right back in like Freeman in addition to, rather than instead of, Stewart.

Are you sure, I was told he is a left pegger?

Played at left back for our u21s. He looked very composed with the ball and used it well.
Looked quite pacey as well.

Seems we may have missed out to a prem team.

Is this the reason we are now being linked with Sheehan, seemed a bit strange we was pursuing him and Stewart both left backs.

Sheehan can also play at centre half, so would be a decent replacement for Matt Hill in terms of positions.

Clough, speaking after completing the signatures of Marc McNulty and Jamal Campbell-Ryce yesterday, suggested Stewart’s representatives had recommended their client moved to Bramall Lane.

But, confirming the 20-year-old appears set to ignore that advice, the United manager told The Star: “Kevin looks as if he’s going to go elsewhere, to another Premier League club, which is perfectly understandable.

“The funny thing is his agent probably thought it was best for him to come here to get that experience. Kevin is coming up to being 21 years old and has only played a handful of games.

“It might be the case that he’s going somewhere where he doesn’t play many more than that. But that’s the difference.”

Stewart, who spent a month on loan at Crewe Alexandra two seasons ago, sandwiched a trial at Liverpool in between two spells at United training complex towards the end of last term.

Clough has stated many times he wants players that want to be here. Stewart obviously doesn't, so good bye and good luck. We move on

Unusual for an agent to take such a rational view!
At Stewart's age, he needs competitive experience - can't see him getting that if he moves to another PL side.

[CONFIRMED] as signing for Liverpool.

It's a disgrace that we couldn't compete with Liverpool. Yet more questions over the Prince's investment are raised. By someone. I imagine.

"Think Liverpool", we were told. More fucking bullshit. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Shall we have a poll on his likely appearances in his Liverpool career? I'm going with 2, both in the league cup - with 2 more as an unused sub.

I think he might get a sub appearance in the Europa League after they've been knocked out of the Champions' League.

season long loan somewhere coming soon for him then?

Good move for him. He's gone from sitting on his arse at a Premiership club to, erm, sitting on his arse at a Premiership club.
