Really enjoying the football Danny lad. No-one would blame you for walking away and getting yer feet up in Spain but I hope the desire and fight you possess keeps you at my beloved club.

You are a higly sensible and dignified manager. All but the most lunatic of supporters realise you are doing a very good job with the aim of entertaining us with passing football.

Keep plugging away and tell the lads to pass it for me and the Blades who have been starved of proper football for so long. I know you're a professional but I and thousands of others could not really care less about the results these days as long as we see some possession, a couple of crisp passes and a shot. Hopefully promotion will come and give you a tangible reward whilst keeping the vultures at bay but your real job whilst ever McCabe is in charge is to turn SUFC into the home of possession based lower league football.

Times have changed, the club is on its knees and the the future of football at BDTBL is, mark my words, in doubt. You cannot do owt about that but whatever happens this week regards the health of Quinny and Harry, don't lower your standards and moan about the top brass. Keep yer head up and keep going and keep passing.

Dear oh dear Micalijo you simply can't make a positive statement without having even the slightest dig at McCabe can you... Its quite sad really.

I think everyone at the club is well aware that promotion last season was the only realistic way to "keep the vultures at bay" but perhaps everyone put this thought to the back of their minds.

I'm not sure that the future of football is in doubt at the lane, but I don't look at the financial side too hard. However, the salary cap based on turnover has (as expected) taken a massive chunk out of the squad which has probably magnified the level of cuts that we had to make.

Our desire to bring in better quality players has perhaps been hampered by the fact that we were already at our financial limit for wages.

Rant over, I echo your sentiments with regards to Wilson and I think if we can stick with it, if Wilson can get the levels of performances out of the team like he did last year AND we can make the Automatic slots, then we will be in a very healthy position next year, footballing wise at least...

And to clarify, by healthy I mean we will have a young side who play as a unit and play decent, keep possession well and can play effective football. I think this will be a more sustainable model in which to continue to take forward.

What we need to avoid is getting sucked back in to the win at all cost mentality which inherently means that you push and push the finanical boundaries, gambling on expensive loanees and signings who just want money and glory. The Premier league target is nice, but its not the be all and end all.

That's how far I got before i realised I need not read on.

when Danny was first appointed i'll admit with his vile track record[more than a decade ago i know] i was sceptical however it was'nt a mcleish situation brum to villa at the end of the season so i sat down had a cuppa and said to myself,i'm going to give him a pre season and a season to see were, were at, and now i'm glad i did the football is good for the level were at, next season in the champ all the yougster's will have had another year together some of the youth team will hopefully have had some match game time and with only the man u lad to go back the rest of the team will be ours also when has our club had money sure one of our songs from 70's says it all we aint got a barrel of money, finally happy Arthurs day today pints all round.

Looking at the money wasted by teams only one division above us on journeymen pros, I am quite comfortable with our approach. We chased the rainbow when Robson was given the family silver after relegation from the Premier League.

I just hope that the fans who go to BDTBL understand the situation - although I do think the club could help by clarifying the financial problems and with it a desire to get behind the team. Hopefully our young lads will bear fruit in what is a very average division.

I think we will be thereabouts come the end of the season. I am pleased we are doing something about it now - look at Pompey, Bradford and others, I would rather see us build a team in this league (like Southampton/Norwich in recent years) than pay 'no marks' to bob around near the bottom of the league above. It isn't about accepting mediocrity, it is about being sensible and cutting our cloth accordingly.

Yep, good post mate. And I too couldn't see many other 'tailors' being able to cut the cloth like Danny...in fact I know a fair few 'other team' fans here in Braddie and they are actually quite envious we have him :p Now there's a change for the books...

It is when you're skint. We can't magic money out of fresh air, no one wants to buy us because we're in such dire straits so sorry but the ony way we'll get the wolf from the door is by becoming successful. I don't think we've had that many loanees who just wanted money and glory, they wouldn't have come to the Lane if that was the criteria. We aren't media darlings and our rate of success is piss poor so again, any loanee who wanted to make a name for himself would have chosen a higher profile club than us.

Wilson has us playing good football, and is doing a good job of that with extremely limited resources but if it doesn't work and we don't get promoted he'll be shown the door the same as all before him. Success is everything in this game, it's the only way a club like us will survive.

Pemberton deserves credit too top guy, brought on the young talent and loyal

Ah, the beauty of not having all the facts and only hearing the positives.

Pembos doing a decent job at the academy, but lets not start putting him forward as the next manager or some unquestionable presence. He isn't a messiah, he has huge faults, nepotism being one which could really come back to bite us if it isn't addressed soon, but overall he's doing a good job.

He's like anyone else if the right opportunity comes up he'll be off, if not he'll wait in a good job until it does. Loyalty doesn't come into it.

DW has the potential to be a great Blade. He has had us playing the right way, a way we've been crying out for after the Robson, Blackwell years. Last season he did everything right, to have your goalkeeper miss a play-off final penalty is not down to him, or Simmo. It's just football.

I think we're going to struggle to hit anywhere near the same form as last year, we're showing signs of not having the edge of last season, and especially if/when we lose Quinn, and that will decide DW's fate, but it's linked entirely with ours. Ultimately, if he fails with losing his best players, would it be a reflection on his ability or Uniteds? I don't know. With the new FFP rules, are the abilities of managers being re-defined? Probably.

So might we see more of Dimaio now?
