For crying out loud, we haven’t got the players fit for a back 5, let’s stop with the square pegs in round holes until we have. Playing a back 4 is the system you’re brought up with as a defender, if you can’t play that then you should pack it in.

Until Anel or another left back is fit, let’s just go to a back 4.
Baldock/Bogle - Basham - Egan - RND.

Khadra is NOT a wing back, Bogle can’t play it because he’s very right footed. Let’s stop trying to force it and let’s go back to basics.

Even when we’re chasing a game like yesterday we didn’t once abandon the 5 at the back. It’s like a noose around our neck at times. We need a bit of flexibility, we’ve got too many good forward players not to have.

We haven't got the players to play a back four. Where does Bash play? Eagan in a back 4 with who? RND as a full back? To my mind we have to trust Gordon and move Bash to the left and RND to left wing back Having said that Boggle looked fine when he came on

I wondered whether Baldock might switch to the left on Tuesday and Bogle come in on the right. He’s done it before and did ok.
All day long, get in the final third, cut in on his right ....edge of the box.......and smash it
............backwards

In my opinion, RND is more of a full-back than a LWB or LCB

Definitely not we don’t produce good performances or win many games with a back four, Hecky won’t ever go to back 4 with the personnel we have.Be patient this system works we are too if the league ffs and don’t leak many goals yesterday was unfortunate Bash lost his man and the ball flicked off Sanders head and landed at Deeneys feet.

Yep, mr reliable switched off for once and made a strange move to lose his man. Great in the attacking box, but not great when you’re defending a 1-0 lead

I initially thought Egan should’ve got across but bash just left Deeney and Egan had no chance to react.

That was perhaps the defensive negative of the day. Nothing to suggest a tactical change

We played a back four at the start of last season.. remember how that went?

The mistake yesterday was playing Kharda LWB he was all at sea and it unbalanced us.

Should have trusted Gordon to play RCB and played RND at LWB.
We were playing a totally different style last season to this, there’s no reason professional footballers shouldn’t be able to play a back 4

Draw one game & we need to change the whole way we play. Changing to a 4 effects everyone. Basham, Baldock, RND & Egan. That’s the way we play & we know best. People think it’s football manager at times
No, it’s not cos we’ve drawn, it’s cos we’ve not got 4 fully fit first team defenders 😂

Why can’t Basham play in a back 4? He played it what, once last year? First game back, Away at Forest, and he was our best player.

People saying I’m suggesting this because we’ve drawn a game - I’m not. I’m saying it because we’ve got a month packed full of games and 4 fully fit first team defenders 😂

RND's looked a different player and played by far his best at LCB rather than full back or wing back. Egan's (lack of) pace gets massively exposed in a back 4 and Bash gets shown up too.

The left footers are on their way back, meantime stick Baldock at lwb for a couple of games...he got shown up there eventually last season but did fine for a couple of games- better than disrupting everything.

So we have a formation and style that has been really successful for hecky, let's just chuck it away and do something else eh?

Like hecky says yesterday, we had only 1 player playing out of position rather than 6. We could have easily lost that game. Sharp scored the goal he really should have and it would have been an excellent win with a depleted and knackered squad.

I get that there’s a desire to change an entire system after 1 below par performance in 10 and seeing no signs in the second half of last season which suggested that we needed to change things dramatically.

I understand the panic because we’ve run short of defenders who can play on the left.

So to go to a four:
Bash would move out of his RCB position - which is a huge part of the way we play, into a purely defensive position. He could break with the ball though. So that’s a positive.

Baldock or Bogle would sit deeper at RB
RND would be sat deeper as well at LB

And then we’d have to change the midfield or what would we do there? Keep a 3 but make it flatter?

Baldock did my head in yesterday. He was woeful in attack.
I thought similar yesterday but have since watched the extended highlights. If you watch those closely he's involved in all our good attacking play and did really well mostly.

Baldock only played LWB twice and did well in both

I’ll revise and say his final ball, which he was asked to deliver more than most, was woeful.

Just play Baldock and Bogle, it really is that simple. Thought we looked miles more dangerous when Bogle came on
Bogle needs bringing back in gently it were will break him again. Did well for half an hour yesterday. A full 90 a step to far. So says Hecky...

On the flip side the highlights do mainly show good things. Watch the whole match back and count how many times he was in a position to cross and didn't, or was in space with the ball with no pressure on him, but passed back anyway. He infuriating to watch. I much prefer Bogle but he's unlikely to steal the shirt while the left side is barren and he's got more minutes on his return.

I don't disagree with that. Baldock's reluctance to cross early really does my head in as well.
I'm not going find time to watch it again. It frustrated me to death watching it live yesterday.
Looking at those highlights, it should've been a routine win. Too many chances where we didn't work the keeper.

Khadra was so far forward I came away thinking we had played a four, it was only later when Hecky said it was a three/five did I even know

Good against West Brom, less so against Huddersfield and I thought there was one more, I stand corrected. But hang on, I'm the one saying he should play theer!

I thought he was good v Hudds too, looked more likely to get crosses in by simply taking it onto his left foot

He's also tidy and reliable in ball retention, would drive inside a lot and invite overlaps

Knows our system inside out and would know what to do in all aspects of the game. Less likely to be any sort of defensive liability than Bogle, or anyone else at LWB actually apart from maybe RND
