Pretty much everyone who isn't a blade says it wasn't a penalty including the var review panel who double check calls after the event....
The referee had the best view of anyone to say whether it was a penalty. He was only about 3 yards away - looking straight at the tackle with an unobstructed view.

I can accept refs making mistakes. It's a shame those who brought in the game stealing var can't. Beforehand that's just "a tricky one live"

Just like to add, in no way do I believe Furious went down easily or intended to steal a penalty. It’s not in his DNA and if they think Eze doesn’t dive and Furious does, their opinions are not worth a shit.
They were taking Hodgsons word as proof of Eze's integrity.
No need to ask Hecky about Baldock as there was no doubt that it was one of those defensive kicks which the unwritten rule of football says is 'No Penalty' due to the unimportant club clause.

The crying over an inconsequential TV presenter, just because he disagrees with your political views....... Does make me chuckle
I don't have a problem with him being a virtue signalling Labour luvvie. Showbusiness is full of those types of middle class hypocrites. I personally dislike taxpayers having to pay his wages, whether they like it or not.
I don't care about his opinions on current affairs any more than I cared about what Dickie Davies thought about the Vietnam war, or what Harry Carpenter thought about the Iranian revolution.

So it's just the BBC in general rather than Lineker you have the issue with?

Harry Carpenter was a supporter of the Shah.

To be honest I think it's a little more than that. A disagreement on political views is fair enough. As I've bitched about plenty of times before, I'm happy for him to have his views I'm not happy that he uses his platform on football to do his virtue signalling. Again, his time in Qatar was what made me lose all respect for him as a man. He has a big enough media following, he can do all his self dick sucking on there I don't want to hear him moaning when I'm just trying to watch the football.

I'm not surprised he seemingly has an allegiance to the top sides he knows while ever in his job he'll be dealing with the top sides whereby the lower sides he won't give a shit about, at least just try to be impartial. Well, I say that, it's a different story when Reynolds owns the small club, Linekar was doing all he could do hide his hard-on when we played them in the cup and he was stood on the field talking to him. It was like seeing all those teenage lasses at a Justin Bieber concert condensed in to one spineless mouse of a man.
Most people's issues are his hypocrisy, not his political views.

So just to clarify, you’re against tax being used for public services?

Lineker was disliked by a lot of BBC colleagues when I worked there, including myself, not because of his views but because of the special treatment he received from the corporation. I worked in L&D and had to a agree to a social media policy that expressly banned me from putting any political comments on social media, and I’m a no-one with barely any followers and no clout whatsoever. Somehow he was allowed to post whatever he wanted. Editorial Policy had a person who was pretty much full-time dedicated to dealing with the fallout of his social media posting.

Whilst I think Lineker is a dick, I don’t agree with any employer having any restriction on a persons freedom to use social media how they wish, within the laws of the country they reside / work

The caveats on that are a) posting during work time and b) posting about the employer and their business.

But what the employer also needs to understand is that the employee can also disagree to be used in their social media posts

I had a clause in my contract that I could be fined €2500 for posting negatively about the employer on social media (doesn’t include online generally). No problem with that. But I got them to also add that they can’t post about me either

I used to like Lineker.

Always seemed a decent humble bloke and always been a good broadcaster imho.

Notwithstanding the fact I feel he's got more smug and condescending as he's got older, he's become the epitomy of do as I say, not as I do.

Most public servants have restrictions or consequences surrounding social media. Some have restrictions on political party membership or even unions. It’s not unusual for people to be sacked in the public sector (I know he’s a contractor by the way) for posts similar to his.
He’s got a right to have his opinions and in his role at his own companies can say what he wants as he suffers any commercial fallout that follows but essentially as an employee of a public funded entity my own opinion is that he should be conscious of the needs of that organisation when it comes to political impartiality. I know I’ve let loose the dogs of war about BBC impartiality but simply put that’s what they should have.
