I've got nothing against Lineker. Calls out government failings. Was a great striker for England. Good man.

I don't agree with him saying Baldock dived quite so plainly, seems unfair, considering the number of clearer dives that don't get called out.
It's not that big a deal though.
I think most miss the point when it comes to having a dig at Lineker.

It's often not what he says and who he criticises, it's how often he doesn't practice what he preaches.

Being a caring compassionate person doesn't make you a virtue signaller.

What happened to the much-feted "intent to foul?"

the Wolves lad swung his leg, there was (admittedly minimal) contact with Baldock, and no contact with the ball, ergo it is a penalty surely?

Soft as shit decisions get given every week in this leage where everyone is desperate to go down at the slightest hint of contact. The only reason all the pundits are getting their knickers in a twist about this one is cos it's fucked their high and mighty "they won't win a game all season" predictions.

If the same thing happened to City, Arsenal or god forbid Liverpool, they would be falling over themselves to say it was a stonewall pen.

I normally like Lineker, but he's gone down in my estimation with this. Especially as a man who no doubt "won" a fair few penalties in his time.

Just like bad refereeing, it generally balances out. Christ it’s not like we’ve had it all our way with VAR is it?

That's a common saying but it's actually wrong.

What you always tend to find is the better teams always seem to be lucky and win the 50/50 or controversial decisions.
Where as the poor teams tend to be unlucky more often and don't get the decisions. Most relegated teams quote numerous examples of bad luck.

The reason is
Teams tend to make their own luck. I remember in the 90's Man United always seem to score in the last 5 minutes of games
and quite often were awarded controversial injury time penalties too, seemed like a fix.
However what people don't realise is that when ever they were level in the latter stages, Man Utd would throw the kitchen sink at the opposition
so for 9 of the last 10 minutes of these games the ball would be inside the opposition penalty area, so statistically more chance of penalties.

Yesterday we were the better team in the 2nd half and definitely deserved to win.
We had 1 or 2 40/60 decisions that went against us, always think refs have an element of sympathy and making a scoreline fair.

You see it so often in matches, when a team totally dominates, hits the woodwork several times, has potential penalties correctly refused.
Then it's a common saying, "the next 50/50 in the box and the ref will give a penalty" and it's always happened for decades with a ref giving a soft penalty.
No one usually complains normally because the result is fair.

Aa opposed to jumping on the israeli war crimes bandwagon? Now, I think lineker is one of the typical premier league club snobs, and is a bit of a cnut for that, but not for being against innocent people being murdered.
He has a lot to say for himself, but had absolutely nothing to say about the innocent people that were murdered, tortured or kidnapped in Israel on 7 October.

This is worthy of fume why?

We've just won our first game ladz.
Lineker could wear a '92 home United kit and bash one out to a photo of Brian Deane, and some would criticise him for not spaffing red and white confetti.

If the penalty was given against us, we'd be fuming. If Lineker didn't criticise the decision in the same way as he did last night, we'd be crying CONSPIRICEH.

If you had, you'd have seen Keown, Lineker and Murphy, all denying the ball was out for Newcastle' s goal [before the cross]..ball was obviously out of play, then a foul and an offside.
They all miraculously saw nothing wrong.
Contrast their views on Sheffield United penalty

TlLineker and Murphy about United, Murphy said 'two dives, 2 yellow cards' , in other words suggesting George dived. Anyone correct me if am wrong. Not one of our experts mentioned George getting up and carrying on .
Not sure if it's deliberate bias or what but the coverage is poor, very poor, and their 'analysis "is utterly rank.
I still am unsure is it a penalty or not though. .
Glad I choose to watch a repeat of Miranda on UK Gold instead.

I don‘t care really but there is hypocrisy at play with pundits. How many times do you hear them say ”it was soft but if you feel a touch you have a right to go down” or “he’s won the penalty there” (dived with minimal contact) or words to that effect? Their unconscious bias or even conscious at times annoys me. Neville and Keane will at least weigh into Manchester United if they feel it’s right to do so, most others are too defensive of their old teams.

That said if that decision had gone against us we’d all be raging about it, me included, so hypocrisy does cut both ways I guess.

Good point. But some of our “fans” seem disappointed we’ve won. The contentious penalty must highlight that for them.
It is noticable that some would rather us keep losing to oust Hecky who theyve never liked
United winning has become secondary to a few who have lost sight of what supporting is

whos won more penalties than linekers beloved Leicester s Vardy, they were never soft or dives in his eyes

Who is the permatanned chap hurling himself to the floor in this game. Two bookings for me and an early bath for me

Don’t forget he suffered racist abuse as a child……..

Dave Bassett had Lineker's number years ago, speaking of Deane.

That wasnt the point I was replying to. The point I was replying to was that apparently he is 'jumping on the palestine bandwagon' which to most right thinking humans is a fcking abhorrent take, referring to people abhored by the mass slaughter of innocent people, men, women, kids, as a bandwagon. When I look at the newspaper headlines in the shops I see this type of rhetoric on the front pages of the scum and the heil. Both rags read by massive rancid cunts. What happened on 7 oct and the war crimes that are occurring now are both a disgrace to humanity. And yes, checking jug ears' twitter he seemed very quiet about 7 oct, which I find strange. But then he purports to be all for people's rights and yet was very loud in his dislike of corbyn, who for all his faults, would have been a much better PM than Bozo the granny murderer and his merry bunch of psychotic liars and theives we got in govt instead.

Not sure about Linekar. He has horrendous bias and shite political opinions most of the time. But he raises the blood pressure of the average gammon to dangerous levels so swings and roundabouts.

However his brother is a slimey nonce

I appreciate sheffield city councils Gaza theme park on Spital Hill, although there is slightly more chance of being dragged out of your car by an extremist

The defender kicked the attackers foot, he was nowhere near the ball and the attacker went down. Everywhere else in the pitch, the Wolves players were going down from a shirt pull, the threat of contact, or on occasion when they were ragging one of our players, realised we weren't going down so fell over and got the free kick. But rich hearing the soft cunts whining about a blatant foul costing them an undeserved point.

Ha fucking ha, I hope Lineker shit his pants he was so angry after all, he has a history of it so fuck off jug ears, you're wrong.

I got a Twitter ban for calling him a pitch shitter.

What's the stats? Played 11, won fucking 1 drew 1

Lost against a Spurs side that we faired well against till they got 13 fucking minutes extra time. Been spanked by Newcastle and Arsenal with no doubt more of them to come. Just about lost against city.

Can we not have this one? It was a soft pen I won't deny that but bloody hell, we're hardly going to disrupt his precious top 6 are we. I watch so little telly, don't have twitter but somehow this cunt just absolutely boils my piss, thread title sums him up perfectly.

I watched the game on a stream the angles they showed over again stone wall pen in terms of no contact with the ball in today's game that's a pen all day long. Then i watch MOTD and the angles they showed over again looked like a very fortunate pen. Basically i haven't got a scooby doo do i care do i fcuk. UTB

Think they went over the top in their description of it, had Baldock got a second yellow for that as Murphy suggested it would have been VERY harsh. It's all part of the production of the programme, rather than the showing of key happenings in the match without trying to set a scene... Why no mention of two other VAR decisions that didn't give a penalty?

Why no mention of the referee giving free kicks for challenges he was clearly looking away from?

Why no mention of him insisting of helping a Wolves man up after a soft one? Did he help a Blades player up all match?

Why didn't they talk about us twice wanting to make a sub with Hamer "needing" to come off, but the referee telling him to get on with it? in the run up to their goal?

I didn't think it was a pen real time and thought they would overturn it, looked more of a 'modern day' pen on the replays than I saw with the naked eye.

MOTD tonight on Eze going down.
Checked by VAR no penalty and Eze gets yellow card for diving.
Jenas ‘If they make contact, then the penalty should be given blah blah…I think there’s enough contact for Eze to go down.’
Old Jug Ears ‘I think it was probably a penalty, I think he probably touched him, and at that speed you’re going to go down’.
A week on, f***ing unbelievable, the bias of these jokers stealing a living is beyond belief. These are the initiators of the phrase ‘He’s entitled to go down there’.
I think next time I can be bothered to watch it, it’ll be on mute.
I seriously do resent paying my licence fee these days, everything they do is falling below an acceptable standard.

Tbh I agree if it was against us we would be livid. Even Baldock didn't think it was and he actually came out of it in a good position!

Baldock was going down before any contact and got up right away trying to play on.
Baldock tripped because the Wolves player stood on his foot. Its pretty clear in some angles. Then his momentum takes his knee into the back on Baldock's thigh, so its a double foul. And that is straight after he stood on Archer's foot. So that's three fouls.
So its bang to rights foul.

And jug-ears is a hypocrite, because you could put together a three minute clip of him saying "well it might be soft, but there's clearly contact, so he's entitled to go down"
