I wasn't bothered about cup runs this season, and this is not really a proper cup in my view, but after 90 years of winning naff all I quite like the idea of us winning this now, maybe could be a catalyst to kick us on to better things?

Why does football...when you watch and not play...make everyone so angry. Simple answer, just walk away. Would you stay with a woman in a loveless relationship?

There is no word in the English language to accurately describe how angry I would be if we won the pisspot cup and didn't get promoted. I'd probably implode
Why is it impossible to do both !
Sheffield United fans seem to think the JPT is below the club - Pure Arrogance !!!
Actually watching them at the moment they don't look capable of winning either !

I was sort of thinking maybe having a run and winning the JPT (pisspot it may be but then we haven't had a pot to piss in for 90 years) might actually help us kick on AND get promotion as well.

United have won something, or at least Mick Rooker has, a few grand in the super draw as I remember:D.

Most people probably would walk away from a loveless relationship. However those in an abusive relationship often stay together, hoping, usually falsely, that it will improve, he will stop abusing me or 'I make him do it'. In this case it's been going on so long we must be well and truly stupid.

Worthy of a thread in its own right.

I think of football as an addiction. I want to walk away and never come back at 4:45 most Saturdays but can't manage it.

Where would football sit in terms of harm caused on the addictions list?!

Why ? The position we're in, we shouldn't turn our noses up at another trip to Wembley, the chance to win a trophy and a tiny bit of success. We are where we are and we should try to be the best in the division we're in and if that means winning a "pisspot cup" then bring it on !

I'd rather the academy tried their best to get to their FA cup final but it's great for our reserves to get a run out in this cup.

As long as we don't play any first team players then the shit pot cup serves a purpose. However with the FA cup on Saturday i think the focus should be there.

Would I go to the shit pot cup final at Wembley if we got there? Absolutely no chance.

The JPT is the only realistic cup we can win
It's a knockout competition for the two lower leagues of which we belong
If we win it,just accept it for what it is,a great day out and a Wembley win...

You obviously went to our last Cup final in 1925.

I will never understand why people take no interest in Cups or want United to get knocked out. I want us to win every game.

How exciting another disappointing day at Wembley, but this time in a shit cup.

Is that the one where BornOnShoreham went, missed his charabanc home and got a lift home on the Team bus??

It would be a great day out spooled by the result... ;)

My relationship with Sheffield United is far from loveless. I wouldn't fucking hate them so much if I didn't love them

Is that word 'implode' by any chance?

I do hope we win it! :)

I have tried this. But its like being in the Mafia. Just as you think you ve got out....................they drag you back in again!!!

Normally I do as well, it was just that after the cup runs under Clough followed by the disappointment in the league I was more bothered about promotion this season.

I'm more bothered about that too. I still want to win all the cups as well.

Unfortunately Swiss, we are a shit team playing in a shit division and qualify to play in a shit cup - that's life and the sooner Blades fans come to grips with reality the less frustration, anger and total bollocks spouted on this forum.
If we were anything like a proud football club we would go out and give our best whatever competition we play in !
Belittling the competition seems really childish - Winning it would at least give the club (and the fans) a lift !

there's the argument it's a distraction versus the one that a cup run improves the league form. We did shit in cups in 2005/6 and I got the impression Warnock wasn't bothered about them.

I understand that we're shit. I understand where we are in the footballing pyramid... However I think two cups are enough.

It's nothing to do with getting to grips with reality but I think it belittles the FA and league cups when we already play more games than premier league and championship clubs as we enter the FA and league cups at round one and if we focus of the shit pot cup then it takes focus away from the FA or league cups.

We don't have the squad to compete in 4 competitions and the FA cup in particular is a cup which whilst we might not win it, we get the chance to be a giant killer or be at the hands of a giant killing.

Worcester are bringing 1500 on Saturday, will fleetwood v blades even get 1500 in total? It's not exactly attractive to fans when despite rules forcing first team players to play, they probably won't give 100%

I hate how people assume that the reason for not liking a competition is that we're too big for that competition.

It's a shit cup, I don't like Wembley anyway and if my club is going there i want it to be in a cup final of FA or league standard.

Id be really annoyed if the one time we won at Wembley was to win something as worthless as the paint pot. I could see it being more a thing of ridicule by the piggies rather than any kind of achievement.

Winning should become a habit, league and cups. The fact that we can't win the JPT after being in Division 3 for so long speaks volumes about the effort, or lack of it, that our club is blighted with. Every loss, even in the JPT, should hurt the board, manager and players as much as it does the fans, then we might start going places. UTB

I'm sure I've just read a thread where supporters of a trophy dodging club say they'd be annoyed and angry if we won a trophy.

I think this may have pushed me over the edge into the realms of no longer giving a fuck.
