There would be uproar on here if we were in Sunderland's position and we were considering selling a similar player for £2m.

We'd have to sell him though
A Championship club wants a player from a League One club = Must be sold

Mind you at 19 years old he's probably on more money at the League One club than what we'd pay him, and that's before Sunderland offer him a new deal

We know, you’ve already said. Give it a rest.

I've just checked and he was only 19 this month. Wilder often talks about value for money and while I dont think he particulary means in reagards to sell of values, if we pay anything less than £2m for this lad then he would have to have a disastrous couple of years not to be worth at least the same 2 years later.

We have league one winning players we could offer in return. From there perspective Sunderland wouldn’t be a bad move either. If we could do some sort of deal with Clarke going the other way for example it could work out cheap enough.

No offence intended to you BiI but I really don't understand why some are so keen to get rid of Clarke. He's currently 3rd choice striker and is the only option that offers a greater physical presence.

A 33 year old for a 20 year old mate.
Obviously it's a risk because the lad has only had one good season but if it meant beating some bigger clubs to his signature then I'd be all for it.

I have actually always rated Clarke’s contributions, but sadly I think a product of our success is making hard decisions on players who aren’t actually bad. In the past it has been easy to list off who to lose. I think the only way for us to afford a younger striker with potential would be using one of our senior players in return. Worth the gamble imo, and getting a return for Clarke at this stage in his career would be great.

When we were promoted to premiership last time we spent big on Akinbiyi. Love him or hate him he scored some really important goals and easily justified his eyebrow raising fee at the time.

If the owners are as serious and as dedicated to promotion as Wilder is then £4-5m striker easily justifies the potential return we could receive.

Wilder will get us up, but IMO he can’t do that without extra quality (not just additional squad numbers) in this window

Understand your point but would have thought a trade over summer would make more sense than in Jan when there will be increased pressure for an instant impact and goal return.

I'd be amazed if any first teamers leave in Jan unless a ridiculous offer is received.

Would there be pressure for an instant impact though??, best he would be is 3rd choice, we still have Washington , so a 10-15min run out every or every other game wouldn't put that much pressure on him, think Kean Bryan..........

Maja. He's your boy if we aren't getting Zohore.

Sunderland want Heneghan apparently. Cant see him ever playing for us, so theres the makeweight with no loss. Offer them a few quid plus Heneghan on a perm and maybe Jake Wright Snr on loan for the season? Or recall Ricky Holmes or Sami Carruthers and send one of them, depending on what Sunderland need? We get an exciting youngster with huge re-selling value on the (relative) cheap- plus Majas wages are subsidised by what we save on those we swap. Sunderland get a player they want, some cash to sign a good L1 striker to replace Maja short term, and a proven league one player from us to help them for the season. Everyones a winner baby.

It appears he'll be on the move but will be very expensive (primarily due to demanded wages) for a kid unproven above L1.

Apparently he’s done a U-turn on his new deal and his current one is up in the summer....

I’d say bung £2m plus some add ons in for him and test Sunderland’s resolve. As mentioned above, they want Heneghan so chuck him in for good measure.

Maja will probably go back down south unless a northern club offers him loads of cash (Leeds, Boro)

Won't be us

According to the BBC Cardiff offering 2mil for Maja but Scumdrland want 4mil, Bloody steal that! surely we have got 4mil knocking about about in one of Mccabes filing cabinets somewhere?

Think we should let Cardiff have him though cos of the tragedy with their new signing.

Clarke would do them a job this year as well.
£3m plus Leon?

Wages.

His agent will make sure he squeezes every penny he can out of this move. Because in the summer he'd be in a strong position with his contract expired.

Oh, and fee. We won't spend £3m+ on anybody.

Local news reporting that he's cleared his locker and "will not play for the club again"!

And Sala disappearing, scuppers our chances of Zahore.

Let's get Maja on loan (with option to buy?) from Bordeaux, he's flopped it a bit since going abroad, and I can imagine this may be down to the fact he's young and moving abroad is a big deal for a lad that age.

Showed huge potential in L1 and I don't see why we couldn't have him as a backup option in PL. Plus, the fact that he's outside of PL means that he won't take up one of our vital x2 PL loan slots

If there's anyone that could motivate, provide the right kind of support and get him playing well it's CW.

Might be a good opportunity to pick him up permanently.

We do need to be buying assets ideally. Our squad is fairly old.

He's only 20 and been there half a season, I doubt Bordeaux are going to write him off that quickly.
