Job holds out English hope
By Laurent Picard - Created on 17 Oct 2006

Former Middlesbrough star Joseph Desire Job has revealed he would love to return England and admits both Aston Villa and Sheffield United have shown an interest in recent weeks.

The Cameroon international signed for Sedan last month after a move to stay in England failed to materialise.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Al Ittihad from Middlesbrough before departing The Riverside on a free transfer.

Job has now revealed that both Villa and Sheffield United remain interested in his services.

"I have joined Sedan because France is like a second home for me," Job told skysports.com.

"I could have stayed in Arabia for another year, but people forget you when you play in such countries. When you play in that kind of league, people think your are retired!

"I am not old! I am not a teenager, but my career is far from the end and I won't close the door to England.

"A couple of Premiership clubs have been in contact with me.

"Aston Villa and Sheffield (United) were interested, but they reacted after I came to Sedan.

"They haven't sent me offers, but they told me there was a possibility to join them.

"I love England: the people, the mentality. The Premier League is so different than the other championships; the atmosphere, the fans, can't be compared to others.

"The style is very aggressive, there is a lot of rhythm and for somebody who is not used to playing there, a period of adaptation is necessary.

"A lot of players want to go there but it is hard. You have to show a particular profile: they asked me if I had played 75 percent of the international matches of my selection in the last two years."

Job admitted he had a big affection for Middlesbrough - where he became a cult hero after helping them to their Carling Cup success in 2004, scoring one and setting up the penalty for the other in a 2-1 win over Bolton.

"I spent more than fives year with Boro, I am attached to that club. I love this club," he said.

"And my very good friend is now coach! I get on very well with Gareth Southgate and I wish him good luck, and am sure he will succeed there!

"He has been a great captain for us. A return there is possible for me, everything can happen in football.

"You know, in football, relationships are capital, and can be more important than the level of the player.

"If you understand the persons, listen to them very well and invest yourself."

Looks like we are intrested in him but i reckon he will more than likely goto villa.

If he's any good, perhaps we could get Patrick Suffo to refer him to us as he's an ex Cameroon international? Or will he still have ill feelings for Warnock as he was told to bugger off after his antics in the Battle of Bramall Lane?

why would suffo have anything to do with him?..lol

Not all ex united players liked the club and help scout/find players for us.

This move was mooted back when he was still at 'boro. I'd be quite happy to give him a trial but if he was so happy in England, why wasn't his contract extended and why didn't anyone else come in for him?

My language skills aren't the best but I THINK this says we put him on probation (which I assume means trial) at the beginning of October. I don't think I have seen this anywhere before. I know there are a few on here that have a good grasp of French perhaps they can help.

"The Cameroon international striker Joseph-Desire Job, now operates in Turkey, Diyarbakirspor. After a season in Qatar, the former striker nicois signed in late August in Turkey, where he played five games so far and has not scored a goal. The player is about to start the club, using as it has been tested in early October by Sheffield United, test inconclusive. The player was replayed with his Turkish club since this episode."

So we looked at him thought he was crap or thought he is good but we cant afford him.
