Do we think NA will put baxter straight back in the starting 11 on Tuesday ?? I personally think he will giving reed a bit if a break , I think he would have liked to leave Baxter on the bench a couple of games to give him a kick up the arse he needs, but after Saturdays result think he will put him straight back in

Yeah I'd put him straight back in. Lou reed is a little bit too much of a Leon Britton for me, his passing is too safe, at least Baxter tries to find the defence splitting pass.

That said, perhaps Reedy can teach Jose to tackle, put some real quality in on Saturday and we seemed to lose that a bit as he tired in the second half

I think I'd just about give him the nod over Reed. Another option might be Woolford to CM and Flynn or Adams (if available) on the wing but givne JCR seems to only be able ot play 60-70 mins, perhaps we need to save our wide options to play wide.

It might be very different if Wallace was fit but as he's not, we're not blessed with many viable options.

Definitely

And after Woolford's performance the other day he can't start, he just looked so clumsy. He seems to be better coming off the bench. JCR and Flynn for me. Che is probably still out.

Yeah, should definitely go with Baxter and Basham in the middle.

The idiot needs to make up for being an idiot.

I'd have kept him on the bench for a game or two, but definitely a cut above Louis at the moment. Besides I remember Doyles stupid sending off in the cup, and he returned straight to the side. Baxter needed at the moment I'm afraid.

Is Che definitely out?

A bit of a Leon Britton?? He was probably the most talented central midfielder we've had in my lifetime (I'm 24). Seriously, Britton and McDonald are far and away the two most under appreciated footballers we've ever had. I remember Britton's first year in the Prem having a better pass completion than Xavi and Iniesta at something daft like 96%. Also made this list of the most influential players of Swansea's premier league era...

Sorry if your comment was an arbitrary comparison and I've jumped down your throat a bit, but the 2 aforementioned players were so mistreated whilst here I always feel the need to fight their corner!

Reed should be dropped for Baxter though, doesn't do enough creatively, especially at home.

If Baxter is the answer then we really are doomed to many more years in this depressing division.all we hear is that it's physicality we need, I don't see Baxter adding any strength to the midfield' sideways passes, back passes and misplaced passes are his trade mark, with the odd misplaced, mistimed tackle thrown in, a couple of red cards and a a quick snort , Baxter is not the answer, never has been and never will be!

Got to have Jose back. But personally, I'd think about benching Basham rather than Reedy. Reedy's aggressive enough, & Bash's discomfort/lack of quality on the ball is getting a bit worrying. With him not let off the leash to make those driving forward runs in Nige's preferred 442, he's looking very limited.

No problem at all. I guessed someone would mention his (Britton's) amazing pass completion record. Of course I can't really comment on his time at Swansea, all I saw was when he was at United and whilst a good player who could pass up to 10 yards, he didn't really offer too much else. What I mean was that if you have an enforcer or defensive midfielder, the other midfielder needs to be able to do more than just pass sideways or a yard in front of him. I see these same qualities in Reed. Reed perhaps needs a little more composure going forward as he's quite wasteful in front of goal and he's in danger of going backwards.

kMac, I never really took to him. An attacking midfielder who can't shoot.

Perhaps both were the right players at the wrong time, personally I see more of an all round midfielder ( Tap in for you all there) in Jose. Jose is far from perfect and he's a frustrating player but he has a good range of passing, works hard ( many will disagree) and scores goals.

I'd just get him some tackling lessons, keep him off corners (get him in the box) and work on turning into a more slender athlete...

Baxter and Reed ? Serious ? If we do you might get another chance for a wank /shit/ useless/gash poll.

Britton is a holding midfielder suited to a side that retains and controls possession. It's difficult to find a less suitable player for a Blackwell side; he couldn't launch it up the pitch, he couldn't kick it blindly over his head and he couldn't play out of position.
Why anyone would buy him and Ertl in the same window is beyond me.

Jose back in for me...offers far more than Reed who's still developing,at least with the ball in terms of moving it quicker and linking the play to the wide players and the 2 strikers, plus he's a goal threat if he gets forward unlike Bash and Reed...I'd play Bash alongside but agree with Alf in that he's been ineffective on the ball...needs to offer more going forward for me.

I'm sure Adkins will bring in a centre half, and more importantly in my opinion a solid midfielder who will really add to us, so that we won't have to rely on a slightly above average league 1 player like Baxter as our main source of creativity in midfield.

He will indeed. I know their names....Magic Mike told me.

I think I know the answer. There's an extremely good hint in your post...

I think Jose might start with Bash tomorrow. We would have more bite in midfield for sure. Hopefully Adams and Flynn on the flanks as well. I think the back 4 will be the same, as will the front 2.
NA does seem to like a settled side but I just think that the above 3 changes will give us a boost. Tough on JCR but he ought to have the last 30 mins and does very well as an impact sub when the oppo is tyring.

All in my opinion of course :D

UTB

Exactly - who needs a player with those attributes?

I'd absolutely be playing Baxter. He was a total idiot for getting sent off, but he has served his suspension - and was looking decent before getting the red card.
