I'm happy to trust Adkins judgement on this problem with Baxter.
Same here. If Adkins had wanted rid he'd have had the perfect opportunity here; the signs are he values Baxter & doesn't see him as the "disruptive influence" some claim him to be.
The main problem is as it ever was - how to fit the archetypal luxury player into a system (especially into Adkins's preferred 4-4-2)? But, given his ability, he can open locks when others are still fumbling around for the key.
Very glad that Adkins still wants him around personally.
