A kid I know who knows the family told me a few years ago that slew didn't want to leave what so ever and was basically told he had to go , can't remember if he said slews uncle was his agent or something along those lines and basically pushed it all through , apparently the kid was in tears and didn't want to leave the lane

Can't be true
Everybody wants to leave us,

Well everyone that commands a transfer fee that is

Slew’s Uncle was his agent at the time (I think he still is). He did want to go. He was telling everyone who would listen that he would be playing for Liverpool but their interest didn’t go as far as an actual offer so he settled for Blackburn instead.

Wow very touchy
If you're going to criticise somebody at least criticise them for saying something that is untrue
He left, earned more money in one move than he would have done in 8 years if he'd stayed, even if he turned out to be a half decent League One player. I don't see any untruth in that statement

Personally I never rated him, some of our fans thought he was the next Pele, but I didnt rate him so didn't bat an eyelid when he left

So you’d prefer us to pay someone who doesn’t deserve it loads of money just so we can say that we spend loads of money?

Sound logic

WTF are you on about
Is it the time of the month or something

That’s hilarious considering your incessant need to be negative about absolutely everything.

You’re crying because you claim Jordan Slew early more at Blackburn than he would have done at United. The funny thing is that in your need to slag off the club you can’t see how it’s a good thing that we wouldn’t have paid him more than he’s worth.

Also I said before, you’d prefer us to waste money on bad players just you can say that we’ve spent something.

I know Jordan, grew up with him and went to school and played with him. (Made me look great because I played centre mid and if I hit a long ball he would always get on end of it, no matter if I overhit it) When I heard about Blackburn I spoke to him saying, what are you doing? You won't play there. He said I'm getting 10x my money here. I couldn't argue. He's sorted his mum and family out. I commend him for that. I have never asked him if he regretted it. Maybe he does maybe he doesn't.

Illogical, argumentative, and a complete lack of understanding of what's been said

It sounds like the time of the month to me

Here's what I said, try to understand it

JORDAN SLEW LEFT SHEFFIELD UNITED AND EARNED MORE MONEY THAN HE WOULD HAVE DONE IF HE'D STAYED HERE

OK

Oi knock it off, we need to be 100% together in booing Madine.

Personally I wasn't a big fan of Slew watching him through the youth teams into the first.

I thought DdeG had huge potential when I saw him in the juniors at Shirecliffe but I was never convinced watching him in senior games.

I'm just a punter and my views count for very little, but there's too much black and white polarised opinions with young players imho.

I'm not the biggest fan of agents but sometimes they may well realise their player isn't destined for much, and therefore advise they take a once in a lifetime opportunity. Maybe Slew fits that.

I think there's been some harsh things said on here about Brooks and his agent. To me we got decent money, and the player got an excellent move for his career.

I see his agent called a leech on here but the player has got both a tidy rise and contract, and more importantly a sound career move that has seen his stock rise hugely in no time. I certainly didn't expect him to get as much game time and make as much impact already.

When it comes to young players it's not one rule fits all. Some need to make the most of opportunities to make money and the best of their limited ability professionally, whilst others need to plot their way to the top.

Slew’s career is a lesson for young talented players.

Such a hot teenage prospect destined for a big future in the game.
He agrees to take his big move early before he’s been developed, receives a massive pay rise then hardly ever plays again.

He’s now 26 and I bet most football fans have never even heard of him, such a waste.

Wonder if he has any regrets leaving SU earlier than planned? Suppose he’s earnt big money as a teenager so might not be bothered that’s he’s hardly played since,

Maybe he should have stayed and developed like Ironside.

The difference being, I never so much as saw a glimmer of potential from Ironside.

Has maintained a career as a professional striker for nine years despite only scoring 13 goals in all that time, and three of those were for us, according to Wikipedia. How did he manage that?

Perhaps he's paid on the number of threads he gets on message boards. Way more than goals scored I reckon. Two or three a year on here for starters.

Jordan Slew scored 3 league goals for us.

Quiz time: name the last home grown striker to come out of the academy or youth team to score more than 3 goals before being sold or released.

If you allow a bit of leeway on the term 'striker' (i.e. not a striker), then it's Harry with 9 goals.

If it has to be a proper recognised attacking player then I guess it's Mitch or Dane? If you are being a reet jobsworth and won't accept them, then I guess it's Ian Benjamin in 1979.

Where do I pick up the speedboat prize?

Off the top of my head it’s probably Keith Edwards or Varadi.

No, not that far back.

Edwards scored in the 80s but came throught the youths in 1975. I assume you are referring to the date when they broke through?

Was it Clive and his donkey?

No. A bit too far back.

the answer, I think, is Lee Morris, who scored a mighty 6 goals in 1998-9, and knackered his knee in the close season (despite which Derby gave us 3 million quid for him).

We are crap at bringing through forwards. Even when we get a good one once a decade, we sell them as fast as we can.

By contrast, we churn out PL quality right backs at a decent rate, and some of them stay for a season or two before we sell them.

I thought Mark Rankine was Slew's agent at the time he left us? Didnt realise Rankine is Slew's uncle?

I asked if Rankine was Slew’s Uncle and I was told he must be because his Uncle is definitely his agent.

A close relative of mine is one Slew’s best mates. I’ve met him several times at family events.

I just think it was probably more a case that Jordan wasnt very good.

Many a young man has looked the part on the pitch in their younger years and then faded away cos they simply weren't good enough.

Got to say I always thought he was bobbins. Can’t believe we sold him for as much as we did.

I'm going Billy Sharp scored 9 goals for Rushden before we sold him to Scunny.
Smith is on a similar number I think...
There may be others...
