Jon Nolan

Unless at least one of the current central midfielders will be moving on over the summer (hope not Fleck!) I'd be surprised if Utd would be in for another one.

At least 1 GK, 2 x CBs, LWB, RWB (if Freeman does return as strong) and 2x strikers are far greater priorities.

People need to start to grasp sources. The Daily Mirror is the source.

I’d rather we signed Palmer on loan as the Duffy alternative, but Nolan looks like a more realistic option.

On the basis of one game yesterday I wouldn’t say this lad would improve the team.
It's hard to shine as an individual when you're surrounded by shite.

The skill is in finding the players that can improve when playing with better players and bring something different to our table.

That's why we have a scouting team, and as I'm not a part of that team it would appear that my lack of ability in that area has already been recognised ;)

I've watched him 3 times recently, and the best I can say is he is neat and tidy at league 1 level. A poor man's Ryan Woods if you like.

Speaking of Ryan Woods. This player stood out like a beacon when playing for Shrewsbury. Always was a step above. Hopefully we are thinking better than this when we already have lundstram and Leonard who are better than Nolan

Not for me Maidenhead .

In big games like that, it’s the players that really shine and show real quality that stand out as having the ability but also the temperament to make the step up we need to push on.
Is he as good as Fleck, Coutts, Evans, Duffy, Brooks, Lunny??
On the evidence I saw, certainly nowhere near. His passing not quick or accurate enough, his awareness not up to the faster pace of the higher level, and crucially he didn’t impact the game enough to show that big game mentality.

Just my opinion of course, but we need significantly better than what we already have.

Least likely position to make signings in unless Flecky is off. Coutts and Fleck first choice with Evans and Lundstram as back up.

The only way we can strengthen that position is by finding a 10 goal a season central midfielder who is as good as Coutts and Fleck at the other stuff...and they will either be very expensive or very difficult to uncover.

Didn't notice him tbh. A poor man's Dean Hammond if you ask me.

AM:
Duffy
Holmes
Brooks

DM:
Coutts
Lundstram
Evans

CM:
Fleck
Leonard
Slater

Unless we flog Holmes and/or Brooks and move Leonard to be a CB I cannot see where another midfielder strengthens us.

I disagree.

We have a limited budget: it should be focussed to areas that need it most.
Sorry, don't think I worded my response very well.

Perhaps I should have expanded on the 'wherever possible' - which is where I agree with you in that we need to focus our budget where we need it the most. I just don't think we should ever stop looking to improve no matter who we already have in that position.

I know what I mean anyway :D

he looks a decent player - nice goal in the PO semi final v Charlton.

We don't need another CM player - if our budget is limited, we have 4 or 5 other positions to fill first if we want to try and finished top 6 next season.

UTB

Decent player, but if we need to bring in anything in the middle of the park its a Kante esq Engine in DM or Pure, power and pace AM
