Haha the Stir eh, what a set of wonkers ...and it gets worse. Here’s what Pig fans supposedly said to the rag when asked how the new manager would affect Friday’s game. Looks like he’s turned them to the leather and willow. :D

“Luhukay takes over a side that has lost its way but one that has been in the play-offs shake up for the last two seasons and the squad is big and deep.

“Good luck to him, he might need it.

*It wasn’t 5-0 in the end, it just felt like it. Smashed in Sydney battered in Brisbane etc etc, England’s cricketers were were second best all winter. We barely won a session in the Ashes series.

Since the end of November waking in the winter dark to another radio-alarm report from the Aussie heat has had few highlights.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan admirably stood by Joe Root and the team saying they didn’t give up as they had in the 5-0 hammering last time in Australia. Small consolation but you’d take Vaughan’s word and to be fair to England it hasn’t felt like a total nightmare”.

If you're one of the lucky football fans to get a ticket for the Steel City derby on Friday then you're sure to be in for a treat.

Friday's clash with fierce rivals Sheffield United will be the first one to be staged at Hillsborough for six years and now carries extra importance.

Wednesday will be looking to get revenge after United's 4-2 win at Bramall Lane back in September and the match will also be Jos Luhukay's first in charge of the Owls.

Unusually, the match will kick off on Friday at 7.45pm so, where can you go and get a pre-match pint beforehand?

Here, we've rounded up some of our favourite pubs close to Hillsborough to get you in the mood for the match.

Oh for the days of the torn up newspaper on a nail behind the shithouse door.

A moment's silence ladies and gentlemen for that now sadly extinct breed - the newspaper sub-editor.

Who needs a sub-editor now that computers have 'spell-check' and 'what-ground-is-the-game-actually-being-played-at-check' installed?

Oh the poor pigs will be confused they will all shuffle to their sty on Friday night, trot around in circles and wonder why their gates are shut.

That's just silly, the total silence as they approach the ground will make them realise that there's no ...........................oh!

"I have seen what has happened on previous derby days, I've seen some horrors and I don't want anything like that here."I remember seeing pubs on horseback with dogs and riot shields surrounding a pub on West Street once because there was a group inside trashing the place. It's terrible what goes on."

Pubs on horseback eh?
Let's assume that it should say police.

"Police on horseback with dogs and riot shields"

I would have thought it was pretty difficult to ride a horse while holding both a dog and a riot shield.
Doesn't leave any hands free for dealing with the rioters.

Tragic.

I wonder which group it was? I'm guessing The Mirror Crack'ed, always seemed dodgy....

Pubs on horseback? Surely pigs in blankets?

An article yesterday referred to the derby game tonight.

I give up.

Maybe they should do likewise.
