If he goes to Rangers I just can't see this being the case, their wage bill last reported year was £29.5m ours for the same period £37.6m (was the season we got promoted but I'd expect a similar amount in successive years) either he was really under valued here or is over valued there.

Without any knowledge on specifics, I would strongly suspect it to be the former. Unlike every other player whose contract was within 2 years of expiring, Lundstram didn't sign a new contract in the Prem. He will have received an uplift due to promotion from the Champ, but essentially he'll be on Champ wages

That went well against villa from 12 yards for him ... He's been purr gash since sander joined ...
He should have been treated the same way duffy was (duffy 10 times the player he is ).. and shown the door when he said he wasn't signing ... Good riddance
Good grief, not this again. Firstly, he's not performed worse than the rest of the team, barring a few exceptions, so singling him out for being "gash" is more to do with him not signing a new contract than his performance. Secondly, the Duffy situation was completely different to the Lundstram situation. The idea that you bin off players who still have a year of their contract left (which we would have to pay off) because they don't want to sign a new contract, when we were the ones that agreed the length of the contract in the first place, is stupidity of the highest order.

ni mate hes been crap full stop, from diving in v wolves more a less cost us the first of goal of the season, penalty against villa, sending off sunday ... and im sure there is plenty more of .. can you think of any games wheres hes been unlucky to be on the losing team ??
i think it was bounrmouth last season he came on and scored and looked back to his old self... but since berge joined hes looked like he dont give a toss...

cmon dont know how you can defend him he hasnt looked bothered all season if we had more options i doubt he would have played any games this season the sooner he is out of the club the better

We have had options. He's still played. But yeah, God forbid I would say anything positive about one of our players. He's gash. Twat. Hate it when he plays for us. Boo him every time he gets the ball. He's laughing at Wilder. He doesn't give a shit.
That better? How about - fucking Wilder picking him, twat, doesn't know owt, faster he's gone the better, shouldn't manage another game for us, doesn't give a shit about the Blades, missed our chance with big Sam.

He must be laughing up his sleeve with Berge out injured.
The whole situation is toxic.
I can't see any club paying a fee for him so we'll be stuck with him till summer.
CW must regret this whole saga.

Football fans seem to be adept at imagining a scenario that they actually know nothing about and then building all their opinions on top of it. You've done it here.
Why would CW regret this whole saga - and why would he think we are "stuck with him"? Wilder wants Lundstram to sign a new contract, he picks him when he's available over several other players, so being "stuck with him" is a good thing as far as Wilder is concerned, surely. And being as the new contract will undoubtedly involve higher wages, the fact that he's not signed it means we are getting his services for less than we would have been paying.
The only toxic thing is Wilder will lose a player he would like to keep if it doesn't get resolved. I can understand fans thinking he's not good enough and hoping we can get a better replacement, but the whole "players at odds with each other and the manager" scenario is a fiction. He wouldn't be on the bench, never mind the first XI, if even half these imagined problems were true.

Confirmed once again by Wilder. There has been no interest yet in John Lundstram.
My assumption from that is that nobody wants to pay for him when he will be free soon and not that there is no interest.

Surprised Spurs managed to get 18mil for Eriksen.

The difference being Eriksen was actively pushing to leave the club. Despite all the talk of clueless fans clearly Lundstram isn't actively pushing to leave, he simply isn't happy with the contract on offer and feels his future lies away from the Lane. He has been as good as any other player in our team this season and actually to my eye at least looks more up for it now than he did at the end of last season.

Nobody wins from this sorry saga. We will lose him for nothing in the summer and in the meantime our awful season amd his form will have knocked plenty off what other clubs will be willing to pay him.

He will have asked for a ludicrous amount of money that someone else will be able to pay on that basis that they will not have to pay us a fee as he will run his contract down.

Rangers target John Lundstram may have played his final game for Sheffield United, according to Kevin Phillips.

The former Sunderland and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, tipped the 26-year-old to leave in the January transfer window ahead of his contract expiring next June

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Rangers, Crystal Palace and Burnley are all interested in signing the midfielder who is out of contract in June.

Blades boss Chris Wilder revealed this week that the club would assess offers for the Englishman when the transfer window opens on Friday

Fingers crossed! 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

I think he over performed last season. Looking at him in the championship I didn't think he could make the step up to PL. Now it seems normal service is resumed. He has an engine but lacks quality. I would be surprised if any PL team came in for him.

Lundstram had a great spell 5 goals at the beginning of last season.
Sadly for him he has returned to the form that couldn't get him in the promotion winning side.

Why are some so keen for Lundstram to leave in Jan? Utd will receive very little in terms of funds, he'd leave Utd's already depleted midfield ranks even shorter on numbers and he is easily the biggest goal-threat Utd have from midfield. It's not as if selling him will release funds to re-invest

Don't get me wrong, I think he has his limitations as a player, especially playing RCM, but I don't see any other current squad member doing any better in that position.

Wouldn't give him away, but anything above 2 million would have me thinking about longer term signings in this or the next window. If we had 7-10 points on the board I'd keep him unless we were offered big money.

I’m not desperate for him to leave but despite we won’t receive a large amount of cash for him any little helps and if that little gets us a new player that can bring a change , I’m all for it . We desperately need something in midfield
I’m fed up of receiving our form from piggy mates LLLLLLLDLLLLLLLLDL.
Sometimes has to change soon. If it’s Lundstram going so be it

He doesn't want to be here. If we can get some £ for him in Jan we could hopefully use it for a loan signing.

How much do you realistically think Utd would realise by selling Lundstram in Jan? There are a number of players underperforming more than him this season, most of whom have more residual value to the club.

If you're looking to 'wheel & deal' in Jan then perhaps you should instead consider moving-on players such as Fleck and Norwood.

Personally, I would hold onto Lundstram until summer and then recruit for the upcoming Champ campaign due to players' increased fees in the JTW

Owt's better than nowt, but wouldn't be keen to see him go to Burnley or Palace
