I think Jennings in Cumbria took on the Ward's name. Can't see how they can produce the same beer when they're using different water.

It's like going to see the Drifters or the Four Tops and all the original line-ups have changed.

Many years ago I went to see the Isley Bros and three white blokes showed up.

Presume they have some new routes from Donny/Sheff and want to promote that?

Loads more routes, including Amsterdam, which came into play from April I believe. I reckon it may well be them for that reason.

As long as the kit is nice, that's what really matters.

Oddly, flybe's ads keep appearing on The Stir's United pages. Either it's deliberate placing, or Google knows I've been looking at flights recently, although not with flybe.

Mildly interesting.

Might track your searches? Mine keeps coming up with Dial a Milf, someone must have hacked my PC.

If it is Flybe, that will rule me out of wearing my United shirt to work. Don't think it would go down to well in the easyJet offices.

* Not that I ever would wear a football shirt to work and my most recent United shirt was that black special edition one.

I want bodog, the online betting firm, like Ayr United.

I had a similar sort of dilemna when we were sponsored by VisitMalta and I wore mine to Portugal!

Yes all this hankering back for red and white stripes is getting tedious and lovely black and white hoops would properly reflect the muff diving traditions of our forefathers .

I have seen the future and it is 'bodog' - you know it makes sense.

Off to lie down now after all the excitement.

I will never forget the time I got kicked off a Stones brewey tour for wearing my Wards shirt. Or when B&Q refused to sell me a fence panel until I took my Laver shirt off....

Yeah and the wankers at Harrods wouldn't sell me an early Ottoman period Chaise Longue unless I took my 'Cantors' shirt off.

Well I thought 'bollocks to them' and I went to Selfridges and bought a nice Chesterfield (a piece of furniture, not the scruffy town).

You really don't want to hear what happened when I had my 'Simmonds bandsaw Blades' shirt on and I went up Rutland Road to Stanley Tools....

I remember when the bastard at the Chinese shop refused to sell me a Coke unless I took my Desun shirt off...

It's not the same beer, I remember reading The Star, years ago, when draft and bottled Wards first made a comeback, and people wrote to the paper saying it didn't taste the same. The head brewer from Wards wrote to the Star and said that while the new draft and bottled Wards is good beer, it is not, and never could be, "Wards", because as you say, the water used is different. He went on to explain that the high sulphur content in the local water was what gave Wards it's distinct taste (and smell, if it was a bad pint!), so there was only one place that could make Wards and that was the Wards brewery in Sheffield.

High Sulphur content? Was it drain off from a steel plant? No wonder men were men back then.

Wards always stunk in my opinion, still drunk it tho' .... deep breath ;)

Preferred Stones, but always ended up with a headache on that ...............................
