Gillingham's young centre half, had a loan spell at United after our defensive crisis the other year.

Anyone take him?

Made our admittedly pathetic attacking play look even worse - and got himself a goal in the process.
Big, strong 22 year old lad with 65 football league games and 6 goals under his belt

No better way to piss off Gills fans and get revenge than by signing their best defender :)

This is what I mean by signing the best in the league by the way.
There aren't many better than him in our league. Him and Edgar would be a good partnership and very realistic.

I'm surprised Gillingham managed to keep hold of him. Would definitely be a better option than either Collins or McEveley. Can't see us attempting it though.

Me too, first noticed him being at Southend after his spell with us and from all reports did well.
Only seen him in the flesh 3 times, all vs Blades and he's looked good every time. 2 clean sheets.

To be a mainstay at 22 in L1 is no mean feat, would love us to sign him. Reminds me a lot of Tarkowski when Brentford signed him (and went up)

Only under contract until the end of this season, as things stand. Seems that his contract-extension negotiations have been going on for some time too (which suggests that the lad is stalling).

Gotta say, I like the idea of having one experienced C/H alongside a quality younger player (although the priority, I suppose, is to have two top-notch centre-backs whatever their age).

Don't know how much better they get in this league than Egan. Sound like he's really stepped up to the plate

Like your suggestion of Eastman too, know you're a fan. But from what I've seen only I'd prefer Egan. Either wouldn't be bad though,

Yeah, there's some real young quality at this level. Both of them fantastic prospects. Would be delighted if we signed either.

Raiding our Division 3 rivals for their crown jewels just isn't something we seem to do though.

Likewise, Eastman sounds good in the write ups I've just been reading. Unfair to judge him on Colchester's performances at BL I guess really.
Both realistic, if we really want to.

Would be nice Danny but we had our chance.

Let's not pretend we all raved about him and said "gerrimin". Quite the contrary....

Indeed. Before Saturday he was just "that guy that was a bit shite for us that one time".

As he's played for us before, doesn't he loosely fit the bringimback category though?

Certainly not been shit since that game (one game) he had for us mind

Shit
No better than what we have and they're bobbar
He couldn't even score against us with a free header. Has to let Collins stick it in for him

It's more of an art than a science, mate. Personally it doesn't register on my Bladeyometer at all.

If he's as good as people are saying (I can't comment because, like you, I have no Egan photos in my scrapbook) then I would agree he's wethapunt. I'm a bit dubious about rave reviews based on one match against us, though!

In any event, it's a bit rich to say "we've had our chance" when nobody at all perceived it as such...

It was Egan all along. Fucking Redknapp scuppered it last week throwing silly money at Harlee Dean!
