Back home from the boozer boys?

Been on a late shift, currently enjoying a single malt whilst sending Whatsapp messages to my Old Escafeldian ladyfriend, planning my 40th birthday next year, contemplating on putting Barney on ignore and wondering if John Cofie has performed bigger and better bowel evacuations than I'm capable of.

That's pushing it, Brownie. :)

FYI played against Slew at Pitz a few month ago. Decent enough lad from what I'm told.

The only player who genuinely could have got us out of league 1 was Ched Evans.
Who is a convicted rapist, so didn't.
He was part of a team so it would have been a team effort.
He was a major reason we went down, a major reason we stayed down.

You have to question whether he really cares about playing the game. However, his crossroads will come when Cambridge ditch him.

I once saw a post that said someone had spoken to Jordan dad and he signed a 3 year contract at Blackburn on £7.5k per week.

Well that's £1.2M gross, £650k net ?

That is eyewatering. I would have given anything to play football but how would any of us react to that in your early twenties ?
We are not all brain dead though. Many footballers can handle fame without being a total fuck up. Just don't ask me to name one.

John Cofie?

Worst ever loan signing from Manyoo in the history of football, since er.........er......

Michael Twiss.

They stitched us up royally with those two wankers.

I would prefer to lament that an agent has taken a lad with bags of potential and effectively ruined his career.

Or you could say that an agent took a player not good enough to play above League 2 and got him a shit load of money he wasn't worth!

Even Slew's lawyer thinks he is an arse. He said this to the Court

He has absolutely no excuse. He is an immature man who has made a very foolish mistake.'

'Some people need to be told twice. No excuse can be put up for such a foolish mistake.

And Slew was paying the guy!

I would suggest Brownie that any failure in Slews career is down to the lad himself. I really cannot see how an agent could be responsible for him now only making the bench at league 2 Cambridge. I would imagine he would have had the very best of training/coaching at Blackburn Rovers. Your assumption (I presume) is that maybe he would have gone on to have a great career at The Lane. Who is to say he wouldn't have fizzled out here as well?

Like John Cofie who has progressed down the leagues to AFC Telford, 'natural talent' if it exists only gets any player so far. Dedication to the sport, hard work and a desire to succeed is what is needed for any player to progress in the game.

Maybe he has a lot to thank the agent for in getting him a move to Premier League (at the time) Blackburn Rovers and set him up financially. Of course United in hindsight got a good deal as well in respect of the transfer money received.

Agents get a lot of stick in the game but ultimately a club has to stump up the money and the selling club has to agree to sell. For example John Stones potential move to Chelsea, Everton simply refused to sell and the agent and player were powerless.

Was criticising Mark Rankine to a parent of one of our players for acting like an idiot when he was Jordan Slew's agent. The reply I got from the parent was "Jordan has a nice house, nice car"

Does anyone know why it's taken so long for this to go to court -nearly 5 years?

Not sure if it's specifically relevant in this case but there is a growing backlog
