Not to doubt wilder But it does seem likely that there had been abit of a falling out.
Given the lack of available centrebacks does seem odd we are getting rid of the one who has proved himself at championship level in a back 3. That said I think part of it was budget related and we prob picked up 2 players for the same amount button contributed to his wages
I said it a while back that at the start of this season Bradford was texting players at other clubs slagging Wilder off. I don't know if Wilder ever found out but could be the reason for the falling out
That's in line with what I heard. A close friend of mine did some media work with him, and he said it was purely a money thing. A few games in and Wilder realised he was going to have to bring more players in, and that Brayford's wages were prohibitive. He agreed to move, but he was reluctant. All this "he abandoned ship for daddy Clough" bollocks is just that.Good mate of mine had a long chat with Brayford at Donny races on Saturday.
My mate asked if there was any chance we might see him next season and JB said not as he isn't part of the picture. Doesn't know where his future lies and said he's looking for club from Monday.
Had no animosity or bad words towards United or any individuals.
Him and his mates absolute cracking lads according to my mate and hung around with him for a good while.
Nothing earth shattering news wise obviously, but thought worth posting considering some of the views on here.
Or you could say we grossly overpaid the one?
Being linked with a move to the pigs.![]()
How on earth could you possibly know that?
Maybe I know one of the players who he was texting? I'll not say who but said player has been mentioned as a potential signing for us on many occasions

The words "Wilder's completely lost the dressing room" was one of the less harsh things said
Bloody hell, if last season was an example of Wilder losing the dressing room, then maybe that's a good thing.Maybe I know one of the players who he was texting? I'll not say who but said player has been mentioned as a potential signing for us on many occasions

Dan Burn or Sam Morsy then....lol....seriously though....Wilder has lost the dressing room? Sounds more like a player who has fallen out with the manager.

And possibly evidence of what a bunch of fucking mardarses they are. Moaned to McCabe jnr about Clough, wouldn't play for Adkins. Player power at its worst.Yeah I don't think it was true, just evidence of Brayford being a bit of a tit
Ive said this before, but Brayford had no interest in staying with us once his beloved Nigel left. You could see his lack of effort in the odd game he played under Wilder. So he can jog on.
And we should be looking for a decent fee - not just to give away - as he has transfer value.

I think it's obvious that it was all about money with Brayford. We paid way over the odds for him and wages meant we had little room for manoeuvre if he'd have stayed in the club. If you think about it though, it just shows how desperate our situation must have been to need to fall back on lickle Burton Albion to take some of the financial strain off us. But to the present, and it's obvious that if we don't get him off the books it will cramp our style in terms of future signings. That's why he's been made available for transfer above all else.
That doesn't take away the fact that he has a "special" relationship with Nigel Clough though. He's played under him at least 3 times that I can think of, off the top of my head. It maybe more? Clough has gone on record publicly about how he sees Brayford as a special player and spoke of his respect for him. They do have a mutual respect for each other, that will probably see them continue to work together. It's just a pity Cloughy isn't at a bigger club yet with more money - then he could pay us daft money for Brayford like he did when he signed him for us.
Wilder said exactly the same things about Coutts and Freeman last season, so there is hope for Brayford this season. I hope JB Knuckles down and gets stuck in.
4 times. Burton as a youngster
Derby
Sheffield United
Burton
Could say 5 times if you count the 2 spells with us separately. They do indeed have a very close working relationship but I’ve never seen anything more than speculation to suggest that Brayford has ever been anything other than a model professional for us and I agree with you that it’s likely that finance is the main reason he’s not wanted.
Shave the beard off and baby face Brayford can come back for a fresh start?
Seriously ... I would say there must be some underlying issues that makes him incompatible with the set up at the Lane. Whatever they are, it would seem his immediate future will not with be United.
I don't think that Brayford played as a full back or wingback that much for Burton last season, he was part of a back 3. So perhaps Clough sees that as his immediate priorityAs for further back, Clough says there is also a chance they will bring a new right-back in for August - but that looks unlikely to be former Brewer John Brayford at this stage.
The ex-Derby County man - who spent last term on loan at the Pirelli and enjoyed a superb campaign - has been made available for transfer by Sheffield United.
But despite the Brewers being interested, Clough says their enquiries have not progressed.
"I think a right-back (could be signed), with Tom Flanagan turning down his contract in the end," he added.
"We made an enquiry for John Brayford that didn't go anywhere, so we're probably going to get a right-back in."
Hmm I thought this would have been a nailed on transfer, I reckon we're going to have to come to some sort of agreement with Brayford now and pay up his contract (when does his current deal expire?)

Which roughly translates as we are bang interested, thus the enquiry, we are just happy to drag this out till UTD give him away cos we know we are in the box seat !As for further back, Clough says there is also a chance they will bring a new right-back in for August - but that looks unlikely to be former Brewer John Brayford at this stage.

Wages the issue, Brayford big increase when we got promoted.
Contract expires next summer, think he will go on a seasons loan with us footing a good portion of it.
