As Nige is bringing the band back together with Buxton joining, Barker on terms there (and didn't he have Warnock at Derby or was that after him?) surely he'll not resist a chance to get back JB.
He might look to play hardball, but we all know how much he loves Brayford.
They have Buxton. They have Turner signed up. The have Barker for cover. They still have Mousinho who can play defence or midfield.
If Wilder wanted McFadzean before and wouldn't mind rating a fee for Brayford, surely there is no better chance than to offer a straight swap.
Clough could offset Brayford's wages with the loss of McFadzean's and United would at least feel like they are getting a fee given Clough paid 500k for McFadzean. He can also sell it that he got a player for 500k p/x that went for almost 3x that to us.
Seems to be a golden opportunity for a win-win, assuming Wilder still rates McFadzean.
