I really hope this is not true, will be absolutely gutted , the only good thing would be for him playing in a higher league with fans that love him and get behind like our fans did. Unfortunately these days our fans are 2 quick to turn on our players so who will the next

The clues have been there of late - cryptic Twitter posts, deletion of said Twitter account, poor form, negative body language etc. so not surprised at the news.

I understand the reasons for moving him on (salary + current form = poor value for money) as well as freeing up further resources for CW to continue his rebuilding programme. There is however a risk associated with him going, mainly around who will replace him. Whilst JB is not the best defender, all other options in the current squad (esp. Freeman) are considerably worse meaning that a replacement will need to be identified (if not done so already), recruited ASAP and certainly before the end of the month and settled into the team, which is not easy in current circumstances as some of the new recruits (esp. Hussey) have shown.

I hope that Brayford leaves too, because its actually quite sad to see him the way he is now, especially considering how popular he was in his loan spell. He's clearly not happy, not himself. I would assume that he's not happy with his own form either, but with the arrival of a new manager its always to be expected that some of the existing squad will not enjoy the new managers methods, either tactically or personality/man management. Brayford to Burton is a no brainer for all parties: we get all or a proportion of his high wages paid, and presumably a loan fee for an out of sorts defender who is a shadow of himself at present and a burden on the clubs wage structure, unless he justifies his high wage with high level performances that justify that wages of two or three players. We could then reinvest the wage on a player who is desperate to come here and hopefully give the high level performances that Wilder wants.. Brayford gets to be Clough's love child again and return to Burton, close to home and obviously a division higher where he'll feel he should be.

In hindsight signing Brayford was a mistake, but at the time we were 5th or 6th in the league and signing Brayford might have revived the season. Hew might be a right back, but in his loan spell he literally won games for us from right back, with either assists or goals, plus the cult hero status that the crowd loved was great for the atmosphere.

Personally I think wage all felt Freeman was poor last season solely because we wanted Brayford back and expected Brayford to assume his high level form of the loan spell. Brayford's form now is no better than Freeman last season and Freeman will at least want to play well for either a move elsewhere or to stay in the team. Freeman's a poor mans John Brayford in style, but Brayford now is just the same as Freeman, but on much higher wages!

We certainly got behind Brayford, both on the loan spell and when he signed permanently he was given a hero's welcome. He quickly looked average and a much higher example of the "Phil Starbuck" syndrome! For those of you too young to remember that means great on loan and average when signed permanently. To a much lesser extent even Glyn Hodges didn't recapture his loan spell form when he signed permanently. I know that will not be popular with some if not all that loved Hodges, but for me he was not the same player when he signed permanently.

The club who loans him will pay a fee and take on his 10 grand a week wages. He's doesn't warrant that wage on recent form.
I understand loans in general. I just don't understand how this one benefits us. If it's to Burton they can buy him. Why lose one of our better players and be given no money to replace him. Even if we only got 500k for him it would pay for the new keeper we are after.

I'd guess that Burton are only prepared to loan so they don't want to be stuck with a player on big wages if they come straight back down. Only a club like us would pay ridiculous wages in League 1.

Hopefully that will free up wages for a couple of loan signings then. Paul Caddis on loan would be a good replacement.

but what wages is he on? Championship player.........would probably hardly save us any money and Birmingham aren't in a position to subsidise giving players away.

I think Freeman is crap, but might as well play him there....seeing as we are paying him. He won't be much worse than the rest of the players...infact might make him look better the way we are performing.

Don't the team travel down today?

If so, this is a load of rubbish saying he hasn't traveled, if they haven't traveled???

Where are these players that are desperate to come here? We don't seem to be able to find any.

We've signed 8 mate so far. That's a fair few. I think its not that players don't want to come but more like that they don't want to come here for League One wages. Wilder's said as much in his interviews that he's missed out on players because they want more than the club is willing to offer, but we should give credit there because we've still attracted Fleck, Duffy and O'Connell who you would expect wouldn't come here for peanuts.

Pretty sure Brayford is on his way, didn't train this morning. Never looked the same after that bad injury.

Tufty tears a strip off the players after Tuesday.

Brayford, it has been suggested, does not take well to direct criticism.

Loan move is finalised.

Who's next ??

UTB

According to Twitter Brayford is not traveling to London with the squad for the Millwall game.
