I almost always agree with your posts on here Carlton Blade but I'll never forget you telling us how average Piroe is and that we should stay clear of signing him in the Championship 😅

In fairness, would he have done much in this side? Probably not - we don't create the type of chances he thrives on. I suspect Leeds will move him on in the summer unless he's happy to sit on his arse next year.

I stand by what I said though. He does nothing but shoot. He's got a foot like a traction engine but is 33 in 89 for this Leeds team (170 goals in their last 90 games) really that special? If he'd scored the same % of United's league goals as he has Leeds this season (21.6%) he'd be on 12

Fair enough.
And well explained as usual.
Id have to see where his goals came from this season too, because othen than against us I haven't seen any of them. They might be poached goals, laid on a plate by their elite midfield, but I always thought he had enough about him to make his own chances at this level. Really lead a line like a number 9 should.

He's looked a very good player when i've watched Leeds this season, his all round game and link up play is very good. I like Tanaka at Leeds as well, very good on the ball.

Not what I see from him but it's always good to consider other people's views on players. Plus, players can improve through experience

A player that I've always rated to be honest, and one which I wish we'd signed previously.

He first came onto people's radar when he was playing for PSV reserves, Dutch u19's and had a loan spell at Sparta Rotterdam. He was seen as an someone who would be well suited to the english game. Good physique, quick enough, technical enough, decent in the air and good finisher.

Swansea did an exceptional bit of business buying him for £1m + £1m add ons, then selling him to Leeds for £10m. He's scored 74 goals in 180 championship games. In his time in england he's played over 40 leagues games every season.

He's 25 yrs old and probably worth £20m to £25m now.

He may be good enough for the PL, he may not, but he's certainly the best championship level CF playing, and he's more than good enough to go to Portugal, France, Holland and Italy. I would say that he may struggle at Leeds in the PL, but if you put him upfront for Arsenal he'd score 20 goals. Even at a one of the 3 B's (Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth) level he'd score consistently. Plus he's left footed which I like because he can balance out a front 2.

Compare and contrast cost, robustness, output and resale value with McB, Brewster & Cannon; individually or collectively.

Wasn't there a suggestion Leeds offered him to us as a make weight in the summer last year, with Hamer going the other way?

33 in 89 for a ridiculously good Leeds team in the Championship doesn't make me think he'd have a better scoring rate in a much more difficult league. Plus, he's nowhere near good enough in open play or overwhelming enough phtsicslly to be a top half PL forward

41 in 91 for a bang average Swansea side isn't too bad a return either (15th the first season he was there and 10th the second).

Having a forward that can stay fit all season is a big bonus. Something we don't seem to have been able to really do since Sharp was firing us to promotion. Illy played a lot of games I guess but wasn't a traditional goalscorer.

He's a 1 in 3 Championship striker. Plays pretty much every week. There are positives.

But he hadn't scored or assisted in 9 games before Saturday. 17 assists in 180 games says how involved he gets outside shooting.

I don't hate him. But I think he was a pretty big overpay at £13m

For someone who apparently plays better as a 10 (from what I've seen mentioned from Leeds fans), Piroe has done a good job leading the line at Leeds, even though he hadn't scored for weeks before the Stoke game.

I think it was up until we played Millwall, Campbell had the best goals per mins ratio in the league, much better than Piroe and Sainz who had more goals than him.

Will he play much for Leeds next season, who knows.

The last goal he scored before the Stoke game was the 90th min rocket against the Blades.

I’d hope we’d sign some more athletic and powerful players like Piroe as some may be capable of stepping up; Cannon isn’t that man. But if he bags at WembZ then it doesn’t matter.
