When a player signs for the Blades it is a clean slate for me.

Johnson has got some good qualities, but in general I would have prefered that we looked for younger targets who can realise their potential with us. When signing players who are above 30 years old we must also make sure that we don't offer them too long contracts.

A somewhat injury prone 32 year old winger who relies on speed shouldn't be offered more than a one year deal in my opinion. I hope we've seen the last of us offering players lengthy deals in order to make them sign.
