I am sure that the story is bull, but if not lets just get on with it! C'mon its taking forever just to sign Reid and he's a free agent. The players that we are after will get snapped up by premier league clubs if we don't act quick enough.

Problem being, a lot of them are still on holiday, so we can't really announce a signing till its in ink :) Same for everyone.

We don't want another Brian Howard situation.

Northern Echo today

LEEDS United have warned Newcastle they will miss out on Jermaine Beckford unless they are in a position to table a formal bid for the transferlisted striker by the start of next week.

Leeds have turned down an offer for the 25-year-old from Sheffield United as it involved Blades striker Billy Sharp moving to Elland Road as part of the deal.

However, Leeds officials expect their Yorkshire rivals to return with a straight cash bid over the weekend, and are unwilling to wait for Newcastle to make an approach of their own.

Having spoken to prospective Magpies boss Alan Shearer at the start of the summer, Beckford would prefer to move to St James’ Park than sign for Sheffield United.

But if, as seems likely, Newcastle are not in a position to make a firm offer by the start of next week, Leeds will accept the Blades’ offer and instruct Beckford to move to Bramall Lane.

Leeds are due to travel to the Republic of Ireland next week for a pre-season training camp, and manager Simon Grayson is reluctant to take the unsettled Beckford with the rest of his squad. Therefore, he has instructed Elland Road officials to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

Just had a txt from a friend who lives and supports Leeds he say's that Beckford has been taken off the transfer list.

Scored against Blackburn today.
Still want him, arrogant, selfish and a prolific goal-scorer. Worth a gamble if you ask me - him and Chedwin up top would be formidable next season.

its not just to do with the style he is faster and stronger and probably prem class even the style didnt suit he'd get some just through speed strengh and hight

So Lita will?
After playing for Reading for years; a team who's football is considerably better than ours.

I think lita could play our style, as he seems to be one to look for the ball wheras from what ive seen of beckford he only plays well when hes given it to him on a plate. Maybe he does search but not from what ive seen

renewed speculation

THERE is renewed speculation that Coventry City FC interest Jermaine Beckford is about to join Sheffield United FC.

Leeds United star striker Beckford could be heading to Sheffield as part of a swap deal for Sheffield's Billy Sharp, according to the Daily Star.

Though Leeds removed Beckford from the transfer list during their pre-season tour of Ireland, a number of clubs were understood to be preparing to test the water at Elland Road by submitting fresh offers for the forward, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Coventry City and Sheffield United were both believed to have made unsuccessful bids while Beckford was available for sale.

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson told the Yorkshire Post: "We're still talking to players because I would like to try and bring in two or three more before the start of the season or, at the very latest, before the end of the transfer window.

"There's no news on players going out at the moment."

Maybe because the Smith deal has collapsed?

This is surely just recycling old "news". Personally I don't want Beckford I don't think he'd be any good for us, I know a few Leeds fans who don't rate him either. They say he's lazy most of the time, needs about 10 chances to score one goal etc. Not the sort of striker we need imo.

I'd rather have Delph. but i dont think theres much chance of that!

Beckford has been withdrawn from the Leeds team for todays friendly.

Oh stop with the no ambition rubbish, how many teams in the championship have spent what we have or more?

http://www.skysports.com/football/transfers/0,20367,11687,00.html

Just in case you cant be arsed to look, its 1 team, Cardiff.

Just cos we havent kept the Kyles and spent £30million - £40million on players doesnt mean we have no ambition.

Its not a case of no ambition more a case of no brains on behalf of some of our fans.

Have we missed out on Lita?????

:thumbup:Lita's on his way to Middlesbrough according to Sky Sports for a medical. I personally would like to have seen him paired up with Ched.

Forgive me for being stupid, but what/where's Thornbury ? Please say its nowt to do with the Blades.

Edit: Just researched Thornbury and I guess if it's right it means we're signing him. What a bloody waste IMO

Beckford, snodgrass and Delph all pulled out of squad last minute for yesterdays friendly with burnley. A sign of them transferring?

Is that from someone you know, or one of the many fake Thornbury sources around?

It's someone I know who knows someone who works at Thornbury - so best I can give you.

(Although personally I thought United had everything done at Claremont, they certainly used to!)

...and I'm talking about Beckford to the person who asked :)
