I used to chat with chris morgan and he is with chris’s agency, chris was expecting big things from him, edit ive not spoke to him in a year

Belehouan seems to disappear, then reappear. Thought he looked good at times in today's game, although tired at the end. I know he's had injury problems, but he seems to have quite a lot about him. He's tall (6'4ish) and mobile and comfortable on the ball. His one on one defending is also very good, very few forwards seems to get past him. I wonder if it was down to being knackered that he didn't go forward as much at the end, he seems to have that ability.

If Lopata is not willing to sign a new deal, maybe Belehouan, if he stays fit, can provide some cover at centre half.

I thought he had left the club ages ago. Shows how much he disappears. 😂

He's 21 now. I assume the plan is to give him 6 months and if it goes well look to get a loan in L2 in January.

FLTTL

I'd have expected a higher level of loan at that age if he's got any chance of making the first team

At 21 you should have a good understanding of the game, first team experience, getting roughed up etc. as mentioned above is more important than the level you're playing at for a central player sometimes I think

how many football league clubs have players starting in their teens at center half? I'd genuinely love to know it for 1 game week because it would be scarily low. Football league clubs arent really interested in teenage center halves who would probably find it more difficult the lower they went.

there's no set number on they should have X Y Z by now and especially with his injury in his first game of his loan. He's got a chance now, go and prove yourself.

That’s pretty much what I’m saying?

The ones you remember are arguably world class or potential to be world class defenders, or they’re remembered as top players.

Ferdinand at West Ham
Woodgate at Leeds
Maguire - who is now at Man U
Cahill at Villa

The game has changed since then too. It’s all about positioning and keeping shape, operating as a unit, not a talented individual. It takes longer to learn that. You might get away with a bit of positional bad discipline in the lower leagues, if you’ve got the pace to recover, but if you’re two yards out of position at the higher level, your opponent will exploit it. We don’t always see it when we’re watching live as things happen quickly. Managers get the benefit of being able to watch it time and time again and they know where their players should be at any point in the game.
There’s always been an aspect of this in the game, hence a lot of players start their careers in wide positions (because it’s a bit more straightforward) but it’s become more important over the last few years.
