Jay O'Shea

Jay's a good player, and could certainly have contributed in the Championship

Perhaps he has a bit of a crisis of confidence in his own ability and prefers to be the big fish in the small pond? Shame really. I could understand it if he was 32 but at 28 he should be trying to test himself at the highest level not settling for being a League 1 journeyman.

In the end though, I like the player and wish him well, it's his choice and he's probably holding out for a 4 year contract to get his family stable and sorted financially. No problem with that.

The BLADES however, go marching on!

I like him but if it means we can go get Oztumer instead then no contest imo.

Those of you wanting another "striker" should look at what Oztumer offers from midfield!

Play him in the number 10 role and your prayers will be answered.

I really hope there's substance to these rumours because he's torn us a new 'un more than once, especially when he came to BDTBL with the Posh...ran the game. Great player.

The one thing that bothers me about the Turkish Messi is that Peterborough are the daddy's at getting top dollar for their best players? So how come they gave him a free and he ended up at Walsall? If he was that good week in, week out, how did he end up at Walsall? Every time he's played against us, he looks quality, but there's something not right when weighing all the odds up?

Good luck to him but it's slightly concerning that we offered him a 2-year contract. One-year, maybe, but 2?

Happy about that. Fair play to him though, part of our best season in recent history.
We need players that improve the depth of the squad, not keep it the same.

More reflection on how good Wilder is.

He's not fannying around.

Funny innit?
Wilder signs someone we're not sure about and we all trust he can make something of him.
Wilder tries to sign someone who says no thanks, and he's not good enough, just a league one squad player etc.
Where's the, "That's a shame, if Wilder thought he was worth signing, he was worth signing"?

He was worth signing, hence the offer.

He's not taken it up, move on.

My point GB was that loads are saying "he wasn't that good anyway" and "wouldn't be good enough for the Champ"
CW thought he would be, but now he's gone, most fans seem to be saying "he'd have been crap anyway"
I just found it interesting to note people's different reactions of which I didn't see one say, "it's a pity he didn't accept our offer, he would probably have been good for us otherwise CW wouldn't have made him an offer"
Just a little bit of dummy spitting it seems at someone who dared to turn down the mighty Blades!!

I think the one year offer would have definitely been turned down by O'Shea as I think he would have taken that as he wasn't really wanted or regarded highly enough to offer more. I agree that a one year deal with the option of another if he dd well would have been ideal but he turned us down probably to be the main attacking mid elsewhere. I wish him well and he'll always be remembered well for his goals time with us.

The odd one slips through every net. And it was in his last season for Peterborough he really started to impress so it was too late to shift him. He only signed a 2 year deal.

And he ended up at the play off semi finalists from last year. I think that's how he'll have seen it. Probably won't have been offered much better cos of his height and stature. That'll have changed now he's in the team of the year.

That's the nagging doubt.....why has he not been picked up by a club in a higher division, but he's had a really good season for a bang average side. Like we keep saying, if anyone can get the best ouy of him, CW can.

I'm not too disappointed about O'Shea refusing the deal as he seemed to be holding out for offers from elsewhere!!. We all know about his relationship with Paul cook so he'll end up playing wherever that knob is manager next season!!. I really doubted his ability to make the step up to championship level!. Onwards and upwards for the mighty blades.

And that's despite Paul Cook going to Wigan.

Fuck knows where they're getting their money from. They're paying a number of those players 5k p/w+ I'd imagine.

Harsh and unnecessary.

He's probably got a family to feed and home to pay for so looking for the best deal.

He will also want to play as many games as possible.
Doubt he's worrying too much about feeding his family. If he hasn't put away enough already to not worry too much about his and his families immediate future he's doing something wrong.

Must admit though I can't work out his thinking. It doesnt make sense to me, maybe something going on in his personal life?

Turning down the opportunity of career progression and a higher standard of football for what?

A year or so on less wages rather than a shorter contract on better wages?

Doesn't add up, love to know his reasoning.

How come Cov let Fleck go for free? There must have been something not right eh?

If we get a chance to sign Oztumer we should take it. Simple as that. There's plenty of kebab shops in Sheffield he'd love it here!

Strange decision by O'Shea from the outside but I bet he was told by Wilder that he would only be a squad player here. I think that, plus the length of contract, would be the major factors. As for Bury...well according to that nauseous, gutter-press, HITC garbage, they are "ambitious" this coming season. Maybe? Can't see it myself. But he's a good signing for them and good luck to the lad.

He will have been offered a one year contract on wages no more than those offers at bury with no guarantee of being in the 18 let alone the team.
Anyone would gave chosen to go to Bury
