Do not think he is good enough, think we could of done with another central defender instead of more full-backs to be honest.

People have praised him over recent weeks but in my humble he has too many shaky moments & has conceded 2 penalties, fouls and made mistakes that have effectively put us out of both cups.

Basham has had to bail him out on numerous occasions recently. Maybe he needs John Brayford or someone shouting at the back to keep him disciplined and in check.

Thoughts?

I think same perhaps a Collins recall? Clough was keen to sort it out because we were conceding to many goals last time, and we're conceeding many goals now

He had a tough time tonight. Think he was made to push up to their box to make up for the lack of height up front then as soon as we lost possession he had to sprint the full length and turn and face.

It is strange how clough signed him as left back and froze out Collins and butler. However, take out the Spurs games and tonight he's been decent and weve looked ok at the back over past month or two. Hope he doesn't take over the scapegoat mantel from the fans

McEverly should be fifth choice center back behind Kennedy, Basham, Collins and Brayford.

cost us an exit from two cups in a week by the sound of things.

If Kennedy can't play every game and Nigel continues to refuse to swallow his pride over Collins then put the Beard in alongside Basham and play Flynn at RB

Disagree. Emphatically. He had a shaky game tonight, but has been fantastic of late. One of the first names on the sheet for me.

Apart from him being poor at MKD
Giving a needless pen at Spurs,
Terrible in the second leg at home to Spurs
Awful by the sounds of it tonight.

Didn't play in the draw at Preston or the win over Swindon.

Strange definition of "fantastic of late" that isn't it?

Has all the attributes to be a decent central defender and the size of him you would think he would win just about every header he goes for. His clumsy challenges are starting to cost us though.

Kennedy needs a run of games now so we can see how his knee reacts and if he can maintain his performances.

One observation on tonight - whilst J-Mac had a shocker, I think the bigger problem was the lack of basic teamwork. Davies is always going to win headers, so it's about picking up the knockdowns and flicks. For some reason the centre back pairing weren't a unit.

He is a very decent and committed central defender and for me, clearly the best partner we have for Basham. Room for improvement of course and it would help if he stayed on his feet more and less diving in [particularly in and around the box]. It wasn't his best game tonight but I don't think it warrants him being singled out in this way.

Wasn't Basham's finest hour either but the full backs did ok.

I have been a fan of J-Mac, he had a bad game today in places, but he is usually dependable. Terry Kennedy is the standout defender for me, but if he can't play too many consecutive games due to his knee problem then so be it.

So you weren't there tonight ? "Awful" is fucking ridiculous. Why does every assessment of any player have to be reduced to hysterical language like this ?

No-one at all want to back me up on this ?

Harrys game will be all over the forum tonight because we have played badly and lost ,the only time he will be missing is the 10 minutes it takes him wank over our defeat that hes heard about.

He's an adequate filler (read Matt Hill at CB) but he's not good enough game in, game out. Especially when Basham is not experienced in that position. Should be Basham and Kennedy for me and we need to bring in a CB on loan as well.

Central defenders were poor tonight bullied by Davies and shirked the challenge

Higdon was supposed to be our Davies in more ways than one. With Davies , what you see , is what you get. Bit of shirking tonight , at least we now can concentrate on the league , as the big clubs say.

McEvely is excellent for 80% of the time but then an erratic liability the other 20% of the time and this is almost the same every game and is now starting to cost us goals on a regular basis. Kennedy as to start with Basham for me

Agree with that, he made some great runs out of defense yesterday but then makes some silly mistakes. Was it definitely a penalty? I was sat straight behind the incident but couldn't tell, looked a soft one to me but none of our players seemed to appeal against the decision.

I can't make midweek games, spart from Fridays, unless I swap my work shift ( i work outside Sheffield and don't get back whilst afer 8pm) This is one of the reasons why as a Season ticket holder the rearanging Saturday League games for the FA cup pisses me off so much as it's money thrown away.

I have however seen enough of Mceverly to know he is a liability who for all is strolling about with the ball makes too many basic errors . Another Nyron Nosworthy in the making,.

Stupid comment from a stupid poster.

Nice footballer, nice touch, left back by trade and at times being found out at CH - classic scenario of a square peg in round hole. At any professional level they always get found out eventually. The same will happen to Freeman at left back - we had a glimpse on Saturday v Swindon. Not sure why we signed him really as he was very average last season on loan.

Wanted a CH in JTW - sadly, 1000 more midfield players.

Simple exercise - don't concede, don't lose.

Quite funny really how people see Basham as some sort of hero in that position. McEveley got him out of the shit many times in the last couple of games. Think back to the 1st half against Swindon , Basham virtually ran out of the way of their attackers twice and Jay got him out of the shit. Him and Harris are the ones with the great last ditch tackles to bail people out.
Harris MOM last night by a mile.
