Leeds in for Koumas

Looks like Leeds are trying a swap deal using Healy to try to sign Koumas.

Hope he causes shit if they get him.

:D

I heard that too, thing is, Cardiff may want to keep him. So they may have to sell a player in order to finance a purchase. i.e. Sell Jerome to us!!

Might put the required pressure on to sell Jerome quick.

I mean surely they are giving healy to west brom since koumas is only on loan at cardiff. I think west brom want like 1.5mil for koumas but there letting cardiff keep koumas til the end of the season before they sell him.

Some reports say West Brom want £2.5m.

We are being linked with Jason Koumas again this morning.

I'll fourth that even though i think he is a lazy git!

People have said he has an attitude. But my response is do they really think Warnock will accept that?

I'll admit I don't like Koumas' attitude, and that as soon as he drops to the bench, he'd be throwing tantrums, but if there's anyone who can put troublemakers right, it's gotta be Warnock.

Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has been given the green light to make a £1.4m bid for West Brom's Jason Koumas. (Daily Express)

Hope we do bring him in. He may be cocky, but he is a good player. Im sure Warnock can sort him out anywaY!

If I remember rightly, Michael Brown had a serious attitude problem when he first came in, but Warnock kicked some sense into him and look how he turned out.

That was correct Jonny. Im sure same thing could be done with Koumas, or even Hendrie(thats if he came!)

boooooooo cardiff are close to signing him apartantly.

Football can throw up funny things like this. He is Welsh and he has already played for Cardiff with Guranteed first team football and cult status with the club, even if he isn't at his best. At United he will have to be at his best to dislodge anyone from the team, does he want to sit on the bench if he can't make it?

So koumas isnt as good as Tonge, Jagielka, Ifill or Armstrong then? In my view he is as good as all of them, he plays very similer to Tonge on the left and would allow armstrong to move back to LB.

I cant really see an argument to not signing him, he adds mroe quality and depth to the squad and also adds some much needed creativy to the midfield. He's a class act.

Sign him for def.
He's as good (but not Better) as Tonge or Jags, but not better IMO so he would have to fight for a place in the team.
Where at Cardiff he's better than what they have and would walk into the team.

Where did I say we should not sign him? Dont go putting words on my mouth. I was on about personal choice the man has. On his day he is as good as any player we have in midfield, however we have a team that got us in the Premiership and Warnock will not be so easily turned to just ridding of what is an already good midfield that will most likely hold it's own. Someone will have to make way, it's a challenge for anyone who comes in. Most players would accept that challenge, but some may be happy in the fact knowing they can be first on the sheet regardless they are a league below.

Sensiblade has the same thoughts I see, the pull we have is premiership games rather than Championship, but as I said Football can throw up somefunny things. If we lose out it wont be the clubs fault (althought I can see someone blaming us for lack of ambition) but it will be down to the player alone.

I wasnt putting words in your mouth mate, i wasnt reffering to anything you writ when saying that.

I understand what your saying. If he doesnt want to come we can do nothing about it.

And no he isnt any better than Jags or Tonge but he is about the same level and players of that quality will add something.

would make sense to have him at left wing with jags tongey and iffil in midfield allowin chrissy armstrong to go to LB

then armstrong bromby davis and whoever in defence

summer signings thierry henry and andriy shevcenko upfront :)

It speaks volumes that he's affectively been looking for a club for the last few years.

according to the metro the board have sanctioned a bid of £1.4mil or above with Reading closely monitoring the situation.

koumas eyeing blades

JASON Koumas would "welcome" the opportunity to speak with Sheffield United about the possibility of a move to Bramall Lane, according to his agent.
The Wales international has been strongly linked with Neil Warnock's side after seeing a proposed agreement with Cardiff City hit a stumbling block.
Koumas, who spent last season on loan at Ninian Park, has effectively gone on strike after his current club West Brom refused to accept a £1.2m offer from The Bluebirds to sign him on a permanent basis.
Officals at The Hawthorns are understood to be seeking a guaranteed £1.5m plus incentives for the 26-year-old and although United have yet to make an approach, Peter McIntosh, the player's representative, confirmed his client would be happy to speak to Warnock should he match West Brom's valuation.
McIntosh said: "Jason is still contracted to West Brom and the situation is that, until such time as they give permission, we can not hold talks with anybody else.
"We have to and want to go through the proper channels. "
But if United did receive permission from West Brom, then I'm sure Jason would welcome the chance to meet with them.
"We have got an excellent relationship with Sheffield United and Neil.
"Koumas was named as United's toughest opponent by several members of Warnock's squad during their promotion winning campaign last term and McIntosh added: "Jason is a Premiership player without a shadow of a doubt.
"Going forward he is superb."
Jason would admit that defending is not his strong point but, if you put someone alongside him that allows him to push forward, then there's no one better in the game."
Warnock, who according to reports is also monitoring Manchester United's Liam Miller as he looks to strengthen his midfield before next month's Premiership curtain-raiser with Liverpool, admitted that David Sommeil has suffered a setback in his battle to recover from the ankle injury he sustained during the friendly with Worksop Town.
The French defender has withdrawn from the two match tour of Scotland which kicks-off tomorrow at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Jonathan Forte has returned to Doncaster on loan.

20 July 2006

Go get him warnock. :)

Not miller , Mcsheffry and Koumas.

Everton were mooted to be interested and West Brom’s interest whilst they were still in the First Division was also clear but Koumas stayed at Prenton Park for the 2001-02 season and signed a new contract with the club. This also meant that if he was to move on in the near future it would command a fee and therefore vital money for Tranmere Rovers. This won Koumas great respect amongst some Rovers fans as he could have just walked away for free when his contract was up.
Feck me, what a terrible attitude this lad has.
