Only thing i ask is please no more championship players.. don't think it's a coincidence that the only new signing showing some form was from a PL club.

Surely we can turn some heads and not get snubbed by better quality players (apparently a few did snob us in the last window) now that we're actually looking like a decent team who wont go straight back down

Look at the players in the championship last season that are doing very well in the Premier league this year. Not just with us. Zero issue with bringing in championship players.

We don’t have a system which is easy to learn and generally players who come in take time to adapt to it.

Lunny has saved us a fortune in regards to picking up someone like Kalvin Phillips but we need the next kalvin phillips who is coming through somewhere, who has time to come in and learn the system.

The player probably lost under threat is Basham, but he is a system player and makes this all work.

Normally I would say bring a player in who improves the starting 11, however we have a unique system and bringing in a player like that won’t make us better at all, well not immediately anyway.

A very simplistic, misguided view.

10/11 of the starters against Burnley were championship players last season, like Robinson, McBurnie and company.

We must have been watching a different match as cant recall Robinson or Mcburnie starting..

anyways let me re-phrase my point, we have two options:

1) Bring in someone from the Championship who doesnt know our style and will be back up to the back ups probably for the rest of the season

2) Bring in someone from one of the top leagues who doesnt know our style but has that extra bit of quality to be able to get away with that whilst also improving us.

Depends if we want to stand still and consolidate or move forward i guess

You misread my post, I never said that Robinson or McBurnie started. I was pointing out that they were championship players last year, like the majority of our team.

And your as for your two options, and bluster about standing still/moving forwards; it's bollocks. Your implying that players with that extra but of quality can only be found in the top leagues, which is nonsense.

Somebody who could cover wide CB and DM (and maybe even WB). Amartey at Leicester?

A suit of cotton wool to put Didzy in between games

I would go for 3/4 quality signings. Get rid of Clarke, Holmes & K Freeman. Bringing in a striker, Centre half and right wing back. Decisions on players like Luke Freeman, Robinson & Mcburnie need to be assessed at end of season

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I would like to see us go for David Turnbull or/and Tom Bayliss. Two CM's with decent potential who have already got minutes under their belts and both young at 20yo.

Bayliss definitely one for the future, whilst the former has been injured but amazing goalscoring/assist record in his debut season, and all from CM! He also narrowly missed out on a big move to Norwich due to medical... i am sure we will appear a more attractive proposition in the summer.

So you mean sign a foreigner from either the Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga or Ligue 1 then? Or do you think we could persuade a PL rival to sell us one of their players?
Do you not think that’s a bit of a gamble too? Even the successful ones tend to take a while to settle in.

If Leeds don’t go up, we should try for Phillips.

I would imagine we can negotiate a new contract with Lundstram with the cover of an extension clause that would automatically activate if he reaches a number of games for the season. It’s the standard thing for us nowadays for players in their final year, and I doubt Lundstram will be any different – though we’ll no doubt arrange a longer deal.
We can, my concern is that he sees a fat pay rise elsewhere at say Everton, West Ham, Leicester etc and goes for it. I really hope not, but I expect the interest to be there.

I’m surprised we haven’t offered him a new contract. In fact, I’m wondering if we already have the option of another year.

We are 6th in the premier league and people want to bring in 4 or 5 players it's never going to happen..... Where is the money to sign these payers comming from because 4 quality players that improve this team would cost 80 plus million... Much better to bring a few in from the lower leagues who we think will improve us later down the line..... Then wait till the summer when I've a feeling we may well be looking at more players from abroad

Yep, we'll have probably exhauted many of the realistic 'lower league' talents that we can by the summer and looking abroad seems the next logical step.

I’d love to see us bring in a big physical target man that could play alongside mousset when a game justifies as we don’t really have the option.

But I can’t actually see us bringing anyone in.

I would imagine there will be minimal 'outs' - we can afford to carry a fatter squad for the time being, so can only see Clarke as the one guarenteed leaver.

Freeman wont be allowed to leave if we haven't got cover, also involvement in the FA Cup might affect things.

Stearman - he's enjoying being around the club and provides a good old head behind the scenes. Very professional and likeable character.

Suggestions that Robinson could leave on loan are crazy.

League position will also have a major bearing - get to 25 - 30 points before mid January and it makes us a better proposition and would allow us to get a head start before the summer.
Why is it crazy about Robinson ?
He is not doing it
Doesnt look a threat

I think it would good strengthening to loan him out and get a stronger more effective forward in his place

He's a way off our strength and energy standards, but that's something that will improve as he works with our staff.

If we're sending him away we may aswell just sell him because that'll ruin him as a prospect for us. Confidence would be in tatters.

All this talk about hopefully getting 30+ points by January.
We're currently on 16 points so that's 4 wins and 2 draws out of the next 9 matches
That's going some IMO

Stand still in 6th ?

I dont want us to splash alot of cash, just cover bases as bare minimum.

Who covers Bashams position if he is suspended?
Who covers Baldock?
Who covers McGoldrick to the levels we have seen him at recently?

1. Jags, Lundstram, Stevens, Stearman, Besic, K.Freeman,
2. L.Freeman, K.Freeman, Osborn, Basham, Robinson.
3. Robinson, L.Freeman, Sharp, Mousset*, Morrison. I'm assuming McBurnie would be the target striker in tandem with this position if DM is missing.

I'm sorry pal, but most of those suggestions are way off the mark and are far from being adequate cover.

Some of these players have never played the position you have them down to cover and don't have the skill sets (ie kick with the correct foot) to do so adequately.

Just highlights the need to bring in a couple of players in January.

Hang on, Ricky Holmes is still with us? Is he training with the u21's or sumat? Or is he just sat at home doing fuck all stealing a prem wage?

And Duffy's dad, what did he say on social media?
