I thought for the time he was on the pitch he was brilliant, I usually feel very nervous when jake wright isn't in the middle but within seconds today I felt fine. The training intensity that has been talked about must work a treat as he's barely played a minute for the 23's recently either. May be worth keeping around next season. What a day and a proper party atmosphere, enjoy it while we can fellow blades! Also a shoutout to Matt done who played well when he came on!

Wilson's probably better than EEL in the middle of the 3.

Glad that he got an outing today, he's been unlucky not to play more and that could be his farewell appearance.

Let's see what happens.

He's been at the club at a good period of its recent history, and will have learned a lot even though he hasn't been playing.
With EEL going back, then he might just be one player who can fill the gap. Assuming Wright stays on (and I think he should) we might still need some back up, even if we bring another player in.

Glad you posted this CharnockBlade because I wasn't there today so was planning on asking the forum how Wilson got on.

Sounds like he played well, so I am chuffed for the lad. Think he was unlucky to be dropped in the first place but of course I wouldn't question Wilder's thinking in doing so.

The consensus seems to be that he won't be here next season but in truth no one knows and Wider did suggest there may be a few surprises with regards to ins and outs over the summer.

Wilson was / is highly regarded by my mate who is an Oldham fanatic - however ,he said that he is prone to the odd big mistake but if someone could coach this flaw out of him and added to his growing experience through age etc he should be a star.

I agree that we should keep him - i also think he should come above EEL , who has played a great part in our promotion but i don't think he is good enough for the Championship and that we could invest the money it would take to sign him better.

Thought he was our best player first half and was very impressed how up to speed he was to say how long it was since he had last played. A contender for staying on next season for me

Scored a vital vital goal at home to Oxford.

If we had not won that one this season's story could have gone in a very different direction.

From the moment Wilson scored against Oxford, our season changed. The team started to gel and understand Wilder's way of playing. Chris resolved the centre back issue very quickly, which his predecesors had failed to do. Although Wilson, Wright and, to some extent, O'Connel, didn't inspire many at the beginning, boy have they all proved their worth. Wilson was unlucky to get injured and lose his place, but he's a handy lad to have around, and as a result, we haven't been found wanting when the need was there. Really pleased he had a good game. He may not wear a magic hat, but he's a good support act. Well done James.

Thought he did well, why was he playing? Was EEL injured in warm-up? Where was Wright?

Wright deserves a chance at the next level, no question, if we play a three. Wolves gave EEL a new contract so we should presume he's gone. A great lad in a three but not ours at the end of the day and I presume wolves pay a wage above ours even if they see him as back up. Glad to hear Wilson was good, I only saw him when the team was struggling and don't really have an opinion on him either way. I trust wilder regardless. At the end of the day the whole squad has been brilliant and I hope they all get a clap on their return, should they leave.

I'm loving the blades right now

Wilson did really well and looked decent even during the r=early season shaky period. I guess him and wilder need to sit down and talk through what happens next.

Well done James

U23 team watchers seem to have been praising Wilson when he's played there. He's got some decent attributes (ok on the ball, may be our quickest centre half) and hasn't had the chance to play in the current formation before yesterday. It would be a big surprise if he became a regular, but we have been surprised a few times of late.

He was so assured that I didn't even know he was playing until about 15mins in. Was only when a bloke shouted "fantastic again Wilson!" That I realised.

There were 5 reasons (in defence) why we were bottom of the league - Wilson was 1 of them.

There are 4 reasons (in defence) why we walked the division from game 6 (?) onwards and it was:

Basham/JOC/Wright and ELL. The only real debate is who would be 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with EEL being 4th.

We had 66% possession on Saturday, which should tell it's own story
