James Wallace

I feel sorry for Wallace, he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who's happy to steal a wage, I think he genuinely wants to play football, he's a very talented lad whose career has been plagued by injuries. I understand the anger from blades fans with him 'stealing a wage' but I have nothing but sympathy for the lad, and I hope that he can one day get his career on track.

Strong rumours on Tranmere forums that he's gone back there....

Wallace.. Higdon... Campbell-Ryce ... Butler... Alcock...

What a summer of signings that was.. Cheers messers Clough and Brannigan.

Urgh.

Alcock stands out in that bunch as the most baffling for my money. Not particularly rated by any of his previous clubs' supporters, but slotted straight into our first team. The others all had something about them, even if they all were shit one way or another.

Mind you, Hussey and Wilson's signing have a similar ring to them thus far...

Hiya Tranmere fan here,

Was just going to post if anyone had heard anything your end when I saw this,

The belief is that he may be coming until the end of the season, whether on loan or permanent I am not sure

On the whole Tranmere fans are split for the reasons above, when fit he has the potential to be a Championship player but I cannot see him completing more than 10 games for us by the end of the season

Still cannot be worse for us than Higdon was last season!!

Fixed that for you.

He strikes me as having psychological problems. I don't mean that nastily btw. I mean it sincerely. I feel neither sympathy or hate towards him. I just think someone needs to shake his hand and say, "thanks very much, but you are unable to contribute to this club on a football field so it's time for you to go".

:D Ha-ha! You can rely on us to give you the very best pal!

3 years for Leon Clarke?

I thought 3 years was excessive at the time, however if he knocks a few on for us this season and we go up, we would then be in a stronger position to sell him on for a fee in the summer. I'm in no doubt that Wilder has only signed him for this season.

Wallace may only play a few minutes but Higdon may as well not played any at all, apart from one header don't think he touched the ball more than 5 or 6 times

Managed to use a few of the XXXXL shirts we had knocking around though for him so was not a complete waste!

3 years for Leon Clarke?

Don't complicate things with facts. :)

There is a very big difference between offering three years to a player that hasn't had any major injuries & who has never struggled to find a new club if made available, versus offering three years to a player already with a history of injuries, who has never proven his fitness at any club he's been at.

Clarke might be on the bench for the rest of the season – we will have absolutely no problem finding buyers. It's a low-risk deal for us. Meanwhile, we're having to cast the widest net imaginable to catch anyone even remotely willing to take Wallace off our hands.

Oh it's a better deal than Wallace, but it's still too long for someone clarkes age. If Adkins had done that desk people would be complaining about it.

I'm still hopeful he'll come good.
I mean plenty of football experts on here and other fans forums said he would be a better signing than Coady.
Plenty of football experts thought we had a realistic chance of signing Coady and that was never the case either.

James Wallace gives us the opportunity to say we've a player similar to Vincent Kompany. Make the most of it.

I agree, the pre-contract evaluation of Wallace's physical condition, as well as the likelihood of future problems, may well have been poor to say the least. With the benefit of hindsight I suppose we'd all know exactly what should have been done at the time Wallace was signed. Of course there were other people involved in Wallace's signing, weren't doctors part of his evaluation to be fit and able? So the finger of blame goes way beyond Messrs Clough and Brannigan in terms of who ok'd Wallace as fit to go.

I find speaking from a position of hindsight not particularly helpful unless you're able to explain in precise terms why negligence happened in the first place.
i don't think it works like that.. the player gets a rating from the medical staff but ultimately it is down to the manager.. even if the meds say 'don't touch with a bargepole'

James Wallace is currently training at Bury. If he can prove his fitness he may well go on a free transfer in January.

I have said this before and will stand by the fact that every game he has played with the U23s he has bust a gut for the team trying to get fit. i can't argue that he has never been fit enough for the first team but he certainly doesn't look like a money grabber sitting around claiming his wage.

I also can't argue with the fact the majority of fans could not give 2 shits about him as he is having no influence on our current cracking run of form.

Perhaps if he stopped busting his gut he would stay fitter for longer?

Yep and he doesn't bust a gut and you will be on saying he doesn't try hard enough ......

Can't win one way or another really

In fairness I haven't been one slinging much shit in his direction but even you have to admit he needs to play football to be a footballer?

Clough gave him a 3 fucking year contract for FFS despite having a record of more breakdowns than Green flag on a snowy morning in January.

He has started just 14 times for us FFS on a 3 year contract!
His career was plagued with breakdowns before clough pissed up a contract

Chris Wilder recently said
"We always look what people have done over a period of time before bringing them in.
One of the things we’ve done is remove appearance money.
I expect senior players to be getting in the team.
If it’s an injury related contract, okay, it’s different. But, I have to say, I’m not a big on doing that anyway."

Thank feck we've finally a manager actually who knows what he is doing.

Wallace was in the directors box at our game today and Mellon confirmed "a very good signing" will be made Monday
