I wonder if it's just a simple case of him being on the released list and an ex Clough signing (joined Derby with Brayford) , hence the rumour, rather than genuine interest. Would be a bit of an odd one - we're already looking at McGinn and Coady, and the middle of midfield is already the strongest area we have in terms of first teamers and upcoming youngsters. Clough tried to sell him last summer, Bailey then did his cruciate ligaments and barely played last year. Given his reluctance to retain Miller due to fitness, I'd be surprised if there's anything in it.

I'm always encouraged when James Shield and others do articles speculating on what the next rumour might be. It's usually a sign that the club has got its transfer info under wraps.

A friend who is a Derby fan (the one who told me last January that Brayford was the best right sided player in the Championship in 2012-13) said that Derby fans are disappointed that Bailey has been released by the club

I think Bailey would be a good signing at this level.
