"Quite a few people applied for the job and it got down to six of us and I was the only male and the head was female and I told her I think it needed a male role.

"I know the area and I just said a lot of them might not have a male role model. They might need someone else to talk to and luckily she agreed and that's why I got the job."

Growing up on a council estate in Bradford, Wright admits despite loving PE and maths he "struggled" at school.

"I lived in an area not dissimilar to this. I didn't do well at school. There was stuff I'd seen growing up and with a family that was probably similar to a lot of the kids here so I think I know what to look out for on a Monday morning."

I can assure you, Mr Wright, that Norton Lees is wholly dissimilar to a council estate in Bradford.

Norton Lees/woodseats is a great middle class area. I'd move back their tomorrow.

Newfield takes in the Gleadless Valley catchment. Location asude, it is in no way a 'posh' school.

This squad would hugely benefit from Jake Wright of ten years ago. From underwhelming at the time of signing to captain fantastic even if he wasn’t wearing the armband, he was a rock, an integral part of the spine and the leader of that fantastic team.

Soutts had the same sort of impact a couple of years ago.

OK so if I misunderstood what he meant by assuming he was referring to the area the school is situated, rather than Gleadless being in its catchment area, it's still incredibly insulting..... to Bradford Council estates🤣

It's under the Mercia umbrella these days. Full on blazers and silence in the corridors.

Not like the scruffy oiks my peers were when we went 🤣

(I was also called posh for coming from Norton Lees via Mundella school. Standards of poshness were low.)

Linz if you were there between 64-68 I would have been one of those scruffy oiks that you refer to🤣
