The one irk, and it’s only that, I’ve ever had with Wilder is the fact that Wright is the one who gets dropped every single time.

As a defender and talker he is our best. He never has a bad game and shouldn’t be made scapegoat for CCV, Stearman or Basham for me. He’s better than that.

stats speak for themselves .. that tackle when they had a two on one on him was a game changer

It's been great to see both him and Duffy doing well this season - seem to remember last season a few were saying neither of em would be good enough for this league. Add to that Leon playing arguably at his best ever. The Wilder Effect, fuckin loving it.

If Duffy hasn't done enough already to make it into the PFA Championship team of the season the game is bent.

struggling to describe how good JW actually is and what he adds to this team. He adds that unique ability of calmness when all around appears in disarray, reads the game perfectly and then when needed, as proven today can actually tackle...I feel comfortable with him there in a back 3, not sure he’ll ever be in everyone’s top 5 of wilders signings but to me he is...but what a top 5 that will be when goes to vote!

I wasn’t sure Duffy would cut it in the Championship, I expected him to have been ousted by Carruthers but he seems to be getting better and better!!!

He was superb. Those two wonderful tackles by Edna and him were just as important as Leon’s goals. He can’t play with Billy Sharp, you know.

However, anyone who suggests JW hasn’t put a foot wrong has missed a few games or closed their eyes when it suits them.

However, back to today. Fab-U-Lous, Jake. As were many others.

❤️⚔️

1st half he headed the ball 4 times to the opponents.

Cracking takles yes but not a faultless display.

Bob Booker mkII.

Great story and really pleased for someone who is a nice guy too.

Stepped up seamlessly and feel sorry for him in a way with the players we have for his role, as he'll inevitably miss plenty of games.

Begs the question....what the hell has he been doing at the lower levels for the past 10 years or more?

I could watch both of them again but neither of them are on the highlights, anybody any idea where it might be shown?

Wonderful, wonderful tackle.

St. Joe himself would have been proud of that one.

Many thanks young man / old boy ?

Since my lady wife and I are currently taking the winter sun ( blatant holiday boast ) I wasn't there to see it but have just watched it for the 16th time. To me, it's just as good as watching one of the finest goals you'll ever see.

Sadly the only answer is playing at his level. It’s largely self-regulating. He’s done very well for us, though, to his considerable credit. Tufty never intended him to be other than a cover for his other CB signings. It’s a measure of Jake that he’s far exceeded that. He won’t be a regular going forward, however.

Then you might want to see Edna’s which was just as good...

When they broke away, I thought fuck here we go. Looked to see who the recovering player was, as soon as I realised it was Jake Wright I had every confidence he’d make that tackle, outstanding player.....but not good enough for Oxford.
