Recall him, earlier in the season the defence was glued together by this guy, he will help Moore out too after a few recent wobbles. Doubts may creep into some of the lads after today's shock defeat, needs a leader at the back to keep it calm.

Who would you leave out?
UTB

eh, got to replace Ebanks, hes not playing as well as he was.

Wright wouldn't have made much difference today it was their pace that killed us by the sounds of it.

He's been below his early standards for a month to be fair but I think we look more balanced and strong with him at the back

Ebanks looked very slow & pedestrian. Ok in the air & when the ball is in front of him, but knocked beyond him he is in trouble.

He, Done & Moore were the weak links today. Plus no penetration up front.

Done is not and never will be a solid wing back..... Why was Hussey just not brought in as a straight replacement?
We had a bit of this last season round pegs in square holes.

Yeah I'm not one for knee-jerking but I'd have kept Wright in after the Bury game. We look more composed with his experience. Basham has done ok there but he's no replacement for a natural centre half.

Basham has been playing well in recent weeks but the main issue I have with him playing in defence is that at the start of the season Wilder said he wasn't a defender so would be playing in Midfield but he's now leaving out a very good defender, who works well with the other two and provides balance, to play him in Defence

Billy sharp. Worst defender ever

Er, yeeessss,

Succinct post, Swiss, if taken in the right spirit, but I think that the run had to end sometime, and the cold reality check will do the team some good.
It may also bring some reality to posters, as we have been a bit cocky recently, with about 20 games left there's a long way to go before we are looking to Easter fixtures for points counting.

We need Wright now. O'Connell and EEL looked like a pair of slow lumbering monoliths today.

And as for Basham? Been saying he's shite for ages. One day people will open their fucking eyes.

I got stick from my Bradford C. Supporting mate tonight. Said we had a thrashing. We did.

But he was only cocky Until I mentioned we were still 11 points ahead of them and we don't look down too far

Not making things up.
Plenty have said Basham to be dropped.
From what I have seen Basham was not a fault for any of the goals.

He wasn't at fault for any of the goals, nor have people blamed him. It's not unreasonable to suggest we're stronger with a back 3 that includes Wright instead of him though.

Basham's been playing well, but ultimately he's not a centre half and not really a very good footballer. Our best back 3 is EEL-Wright-JO'C without a doubt, more so for the stability of everyone playing in their best role above anything else, and the way Wright leads is something EEL can't do in the middle

Basham sounded like our best defender today? Seemed his pace bailed us out on more than one occasion?

Wright is a very good CB who seems to get the best out of those around him. Is Wilder protecting him ?

Based on recent form it would be eel to make way.

ultimately, its 3 from 4 based on ability, form, fitness and teamwork, with Wilson as backup

We have no screen for the defence
when hit on the break Walsall gambled on this and it paid off well for them. Few teams will be able to do this but they did it well on the day
We play so much on the front foot.A bad day at the office.
Will certainly keep my eye on bakayoko scored in all three games looks a good prospect I think he is just 21

basham isnt shite. shite is someone like andy taylor or jordan stewart. people love getting their knickers in a twist after 1 bad team performance. some people always need a scapegoat whilst others are just clueless about what they are watching every saturday. basham is a utility player, he isnt there to be diego fckin maradona, imo hes a better wing back than Done. hes a decent cb, and can perform a role in midfield. hes invaluable to a manager at this level and if he went the team would be weaker. hes not my favourite player but ive played on the same team as lads like him and believe me you miss them when they are not there.
