Jake Wright has been immense. His support, his play and anticipation have been second to none. I wish him a formidable slice of good fortune in his next steps and send him a huge thank you. A United legend. Should never struggle to have a pint bought for him if a Blade is in the same building. One of those who stuck in when he was needed to move the wreck from the bottom of the ocean when we needed it.

If Wilder had got hold of him when he was 21 he’d have been a Premier League Player In a back three. One of the best readers of a game I’ve seen.

He had him 2006-8 at Halifax. It’s down to Wilder that he made it as a pro.

It was a sign of things to come (not obvious to me at the time) that Wilder could bring in such an unknown player who went on to hardly put a foot wrong. Things began to go right (no pun intended) with players like him. Has anybody got a bad word to say about him? A credit to his profession.

I hope he finds a club soon.

Bolton sent him back for whatever reason

If Bolton had wanted to keep him, they would have done. I told my Bolton mates what a good player he was, but he didn’t really convince them. He was injured for a while and in the two games I saw him in, he got caught out a couple of times, although he was playing alongside some very young and naive defenders.

Still a legend in my eyes though.
