He still doesn't have enough shots for my liking, can't remember any assists either.

I wonder if CW when he was having his after match beer thought to himself "I dropped a right bollock leaving Jake Wright on the bench"
If he didn't he fucking should have!

Almost certain Jake Wright signed a 2 year deal..reminds me a hell of a lot of Paul Mcgrath he used to play with a cigar in his mouth
Wright is blessed with a similar gift of reading the game, hardly ever needs to run , He really should have pled at an higher level.
Hopefully he will !! with us next season,
E

Just so calm and reassuring. One time he just waited for the striker to get close enough before chopping it to O'Connell. Another was when Coutts tries to head one back but was short. Instead of diving in he showed the striker onto his strong side left and nicked it off him. The biggest thing you remember is him organising. He knows the position, he's a leader and directs calmly.

More McGrath than Morgan but I think he's quite unique

He signed a 2 year contract but apparently there was talk yesterday that his agent is trying to get him a pay rise. Given what he'll be on, what he will have averaged in his career and what he's contributed here then you couldn't begrudge it him one bit.

Wright is so good for us, I think Wilder should provide a busty female to wash him after games!!

This forum is generally fairly lively and diverse in opinion, to put it mildly. However, for the first time I have sensed an almost unanimous belief.

Is there anybody who does not think that Jake should start at the centre of our defence?

This could be a record!

Good post! I'm surprised that there isn't already 35 other threads on the same player....

If my arithmetic is wright then its now 53 points in 21 games with him, 15 points in 13 without. Relegation form when he doesn't play, runaway record-breaking points when he does.

There were a couple of moments in the first half yesterday, that illustrated the qualities that Wright gives us.

As Wilder has said, Bolton made a decent fist of dragging us down to their level at the start of the game and it became a bit frenetic. That in turn led to some of our lads trying some overly risky cross field passes to try to get things moving; trying to get the ball through areas where Bolton's giants were waiting to pick the ball off it was under hit.

Fortunately, on each occasion Wright had read the situation like a book and was already nudging up by a few yards and was on the spot as soon as the ball was intercepted by a Bolton player to immediately nick it back and snuff out any counter-attack.

It's almost as if he was stood on the halfway-line watching it unfold, thinking, "hang on, looks like Duffs/Laffs is going to go for something a bit daft here." Superb anticipation and defending.

Wow, we're such a one man team!

We need to bring back the Beattie "Her Jude" song..

Na na na nanananaaaaaaaa Jake Wright !
Or
"He stops them scoring, Jake Wright Jake Wright Jake Wright Jake Wright Jake Wright..........................."
Try it from 1 min in.

So if it wasn't for Wilder not picking him we'd be up by now? Sack the twat!

Makes no sense at all, and I think we need to sign Ben Mee to make it work, and probably be called Hull City but:

Jake Wright, Jake Wright, Jake Wright, Jake Wright, you know I love your tiger light.
